I'm a non pilot but flight sim enthusiast. These charts give me a headache and are so confusing. I applaud all you pilots out there who can figure this stuff out safely navigate.

24/24 headed for 31/31. “Thanks FAA” for always living up to your mission statement “We are not happy until you are not happy” !!! I’m confused, but then again, I’m VFR. Great lesson. Thanks Jason and team.

24/24. I prefer to fly using the VFR sectional (once I've used the IFR chart for flight planning). I will then overlay the Approach chart; however, I still really like having a paper chart, too!

24/24. I do the same thing Jason. When flying IFR, I’m using the VFR charts on EFB

Another great video Jason. Comparing VFR flying with IFR is like apples to oranges... Both charts are easy to cipher once you understand the intent and purpose of them both. And despite Victor airways and T-routes (I use for backup and depending on terrain, will have segments of my flights use them), folks with GPS are flying direct more and more. Mountainous areas you can't always fly direct, but just look at the numbers on cleared routes... This is the single biggest use case for an EFB. I use Foreflight and toggle between the VFR sectional and IFR low enroute chart... I also use my GTN 750 Xi and filter out what is necessary. We have to be careful not to have too much information and have it create MORE workload vs. less. 🙂

24 for 24, looks like you made this one yesterday as your beard looks the same! Student pilot here coming to terms with VFR sectionals. I thought the sectional charts were difficult, thank you FAA for making things even tougher changing colors between charts.

24/24 - I've been using the IFR charts since I became instrument rated but there has been a few times when transitioning to a pilot controlled airport that I need to bring up the VFR to help find the airport better. I'll continue briefing my route via IFR charts but I'm going to start using VFR charts more in my flying after this video for better situational awareness.

24 for 24 - I fly with an iPad mini mounted on the yoke, an iPad on my lap on the left and kneeboard on the right. When flying IFR I will have the IFR chart up on the yoke and VFR chart on the lap. I have a pencil attached to the kneeboard by a string to copy clearances and information.

Thank you FAA, appreciate that!! 24 of 24 ... and when I fly, I am ashamed to say that I don't have my VFR chart up. Just using my satellite map view with airspace overlaid. I will work to use my VFR charts more as I venture out of my familiar airspace. Feed me more of IFR charts Jason.

24 4 24. Good evening Jason, I have not looked much into IFR low en route charts as I fly mostly Canadian VFR and the fact that my aircraft is a VFR platform. For the moment I fly with ForeFlight that suits my apparent needs. Needless to say I did find your introduction to this platform slightly amusing and somewhat confusing but there were moments that were intriguing and informative. Thank you for bringing some key points up and their explanations to this non-IFR pilot

Some lightbulb moments went off with this video. V airways being VOR, and the distance boxes I never really noticed before.

How to read an IFR Low Enroute Chart. At which time of the video did you actually explain how to? The only thing i learn to read was the T and V route. The rest is just opinions and talks. Was expecting more like in details explanation. You should change the title to " Opinion on IFR Erc Low Charts"
