How to Read and Listen to a book using Whispersync for Voice - Amazon Kindle and Audible Tutorial

I love Whisper sync. I use it on my iPad mini everyday. There is something wonderful being able to switch from audio to written word and sometimes using both and having both simultaneously.

theres noway i gotta buy both versions of the book to get whispersync. thats just stupid. i thought it would convert the book version via whispersync since i bought the audio book version and since its the same account i only have to buy it once. LAME!!!!! i havent found an app that has let me do that option for a cheap price instead of 15+ dollars i know books arent cheap but come on. sometimes its nice to want to read it while you listen.

What I want to know is what I thought you were going to talk about from the title: to read and listen to a Kindle book using whispersync at the same time. I have dyslexia, and using my eyes to read *while* listening to the audio is the best way for me to be able to read. I do this "manually" by checking out paper books and CDs of books from the library, and listening and reading at the same time. But I'd like to be able to do it on Kindle so it could be done automatically, and I don't see it as an option.

This can be done by enabling text to speech. You enable it in your kindle settings then hit the play button when reading a book to hear it out loud

@@kelly_savageon the kindle mobile app it lets you read along directly with the audiobook. is there a way to do that on kindle? there really should be 😢

I just got audible because i was under the impression that that was possible. The audio books that are in KU even highlight the text as its read. I just wanted to do both at the same time without having to switch apps! I assumed audible would work the same since it is also an Amazon app

It would be an amazing feature, unfortunately the selection is very poor.

Does WhisperSync allow for simultaneous listening AND reading? Considering getting this for my kids to help them with reading. Text to Speech sucks for this as the pauses and intonation don’t match up.

I have the kindle book and audible version and it says it includes Whispersync, but when I go to switch devices it just picks up where I was the last time I was on that device. It doesn't sync the progress between the two. So, it's not as straightforward as just purchasing them both and I was hoping that was going to be covered in this. 😕

Oh yes apparently this is quite common, so you have to go to your settings and enable device synchronization under 'Preferences'

As far as I know, you can do this in the kindle app using immersion reading. I think you have to enable it in your settings maybe, but when you click on the ebook there should be an option to download the audible narration. Hope this helps!

@@kelly_savage im on samsung and nothing in the kindle app lets me do anything of the sort. so i just open audible and play it then open kindle and read from there.

@@Shhheye1 I've tried it - you can't listen and read at the same time. You have to either listen or read. You can't do both - it won't let you.

@@Beery1962 I’m doing it right now. Curious. When I go on Amazon I change the search category to whisper syncs and I buy it from there. It works well for me. It highlights the words as they say it and I can pause and play whenever I want. I think maybe call customer service

@@Shhheye1 Then you're not doing it on a Kindle. The title of this video includes the words "Amazon Kindle and Audible Tutorial, yet it's not a feature that's available on Kindle. You can do it on your iPhone, or on a tablet, but not on Kindle. And on a tablet, you're using the Kindle app, so you can't change fonts.

@@Beery1962 oh interesting. You’re right, I missed the part where this was exclusively about an Amazon kindle reader. When people say kindle I do in fact think of my kindle app on my phone. I change the font on my app as well as background color font color and size. I guess the bottom line is I have zero problems and am living my best life on the app. Best of luck to you guys using the actual kindle. I hope 🤞🏾 you guys find a solution.

do you know if this feature is available in all countries? I am in Canada and i heard about this a few months ago, although when got a kindle unlimied trial, and browsed around, both on amazon and on kindle, I couldn't figure out how to get Audible+Kindle synchronization... This feature would be amazing and i would love to utilize it.

I think when they initially introduced it, it was only available in the UK, US and Germany and then they would be expanding it but I couldn't find any more information about this so I'm wondering if maybe it wasn't popular enough so they didn't expand it to other countries?

You won’t be able to listen with kindle unlimited, you would need to use audible and have the whispersync connected version of the book
