How to read Balenciaga tags to know what Season & Year your bag is

Hi, sorry looks like my reply to you previous didn't ever post - but they do occasionally have older bags sitting in the backroom that make their way to the floor in later seasons. For whatever reason this happens at department stores sometimes. It would probably be rarer, but can happen. More than likely, the seller just miscalculated how long it had been since they purchased it, lol! (For instance, it takes me a minute to realize the 1990s were actually 20 years ago, yikes!) ;) HTH!

Part-Times only have the leather tag... you'll have to use the paper tag that should come with it to find the the year & info. I haven't bought a Bal bag directly from a Bal store in a few years, so if they have discontinued that year tag - there would be no way to definitely determine the year of your bag if it only has the leather tag. If you post a picture of it on my facebook, I can try to help you as well by looking at the picture. The tags should be either in the front or interior pocket.

I have purchased a City Bag which I was totally convinced was authentic. BUT the lettering on the back of the tab is high, just below the stitched line and worse than that, the tiny metal O rings are not fully sealed - gaps in them. Can you confirm that authentic bags are totally sealed -- many thanks. Pat

I'm many years late but this video is very helpful. I'm wondering if the words "made in italy" have to always be lower case? I ordered a Classic City bag from Overstock.com and the picture from the website show those words in all upper case. I'm nervous now.

I just bought a used Balenciaga that was allegedly purchased at Neimun Marcus 3 years ago. However, it is marked with the letter U - and it sounds like that means it is from 2007. Is it possible for Neimuns to be selling a 2007 bag in 2009/2010? Thanks :)

Hi I just purchased the Part Time and it only has the leather tag. In the ffront only had Balenciaga , Paris and in the back numbers and made in Italy. How can I find out the color and year please? It's brand new purchased at the Balenciaga Boutique

HI, great videos by the way. As a guy I have really learned a lot. My partner has a Black 2006 (Y) RH city bag. Zippers seem good quality etc but only one thing has me suspicious that it is fake is the fact that the silver tag has the number 115748 on and underneath the number is 128523 3555. Are there any instances whereby the numbers would not match? i.e. a specific year? Thank You.

Angel Ridgeway it turned out to be a fake bag. The mirror was missing which was suspect and often a tell tale sign. It must be glass, not plastic. The codes didn't match the bags date but it was a very very good replica.

Thanks for your time Nigel! The bag I have looks amazing as well. Its a metallic silver small wristlet, with the letter c..I dont think this type came with a mirror or handles..so that's less detail that I have to help me authenticate! Should have known it was too good to be true. Thanks Again!

Angel Ridgeway for your bag i would check the stitching on the inside label. Cant quite remember but I think it should be black all the way round and double stitching across the top.

I purchased a Day bag from Nordstrom last week and when I got it home I noticed it smelled like perfume. I talked to the SA and she said she pulled the bag from the back, but that it may have been on the floor at one time. I was attempting to air out the bag and decided to take a look at the tags inside the pocket. I was shocked to see that the tags are from 2008! It looks like I purchased a five-year-old handbag as new. How can this happen? It seems unethical to me. What are your thoughts?

Nordstrom have been selling "refurbished" bags and suitcases for a few years. I bought a ted baker suitcase only to find out it was refurbished bc they forgot to take the tag out of the inner that made ea note of it. I found out this was totally common for Nordstrom.

Hi some person is trying to sell me a Balenciaga Bag, It looks like Giant Hardware model in a light blue color. size aprox. 15"L x 5½"D x 9"H In the front part of the tag it doesn't have the silver tag, only the leather tag, in the front of the leather tag is only BALENCIAGA . PARIS no serial number or anything else on the back has a serial number 173084 502752 im worried because it doesnt have the serial number on front AND back, just the back part.
