A real craftsman great skill and very well done, no fancy tools, work bench or safety gear heart goes out to him for having to work under those conditions.
@keithammleter3824
@keithammleter3824 2 жыл бұрын
:Why? It his choice to work in those conditions. There's nothing to stop him buying or building a decent workbench, for example. There's noting to stop him keeping the floor clean. Nothing to stop him making a proper riveting tool. Only ignorance .
@keithammleter3824
@keithammleter3824 2 жыл бұрын
@Tess Tickle : Your thinking is faulty. It doesn't matter whether you like in a rich society or a poor one, time is ALWAYS money. It doesn't matter whether you earn $1 an hour or $100 an hour, making a work bench or a gear puller takes the same time - the same percentage impact on your earnings that day. Why put money in a bank account? If you do that today, you can't spend it today. Answer: Because the account pays interest, and over time you'll end up with more. Same thing with making a work bench or a gear puller: On the day you do it, that's time you can't use for paying work. But for the next 30 years that bench or puller will mean you can work more efficiently and earn money faster. These methods of working in Pakistan and Afghanistan can only be a cultural thing. Everybody works in the dirt, so young blokes think that is how it is done. There was a time, when I was young, that my country was as poor as Pakistan is now. But we worked smarter, investing in our future, and now we are a rich, advanced country. The fact that countries such as Germany, the USA, etc are so much more richer and powerful is not an accident. It's because their culture fosters innovation - everyone continually looking for a better tool to get the job done quicker at less cost. If building a work bench or gear puller meant reduced earnings, we wouldn't have them either.

TBH it doesn't look that hard to do. Just disassemble the thing, drill some rivets, replace what need to be replace and reassemble the thing. It also looks like it's the only task he's doing in this specific shop You never see them doing repair on parts that need really tight clearance, specific torque settings, exotic materials.. Even when they're doing some lathe work, it's always the very basic facing, cutting to an OD and parting the pieces to a 1mm precision.
@keithammleter3824
@keithammleter3824 2 жыл бұрын
@@xl000 In lots of these videos, you see them working on things that SHOULD be properly torqued - eg head bolts, big end bolts. But they never use torque wrenches. I don't believe its because they can't afford the right tools. Its because they have not been taught properly, and are plain lazy. Just as the lathe operator in this video was just too plumb lazy to constrain the coupling with a guide rod. One slight accidental touch and the result will be quick and dramatic. But he doesn't think about it. They can afford the tools alright - you see them using expensive presses, expensive lathes (and abusing expensive lathes by welding in situ using the lathe as the earth return). They go though large quantities of welding rods, etc. These aren't cheap. They probably come from some Indian factory at a price well below what we pay in the West, but relative to their economics, they'll still be expensive. If they are getting away with ripping off the customer by doing shoddy work, it's because their competitors are just as bad, and the customers think that poor quality is normal.

In a country like theirs where they have no recourse when parts fail. I mean after all its used springs from another used worn out disk along with the other parts he grind down to fit. The ring was cracked and used he also grind down to fit...Wondering it the clutch material was just used and spray painted too. Looks like maybe only the rivets are new...The buyers really doesn't have any type system he can go to to complain there....Here you do stuff like that and sell it , you can be sued,fined and imprisoned.The term rebuild or manufactured GREATLY changes based on where in the world the part is being rebuilt in....This is a country where they think more highly of the disk then they do towards women.

Cool to see all this work done by hand.but cleaning metal and throwing a new friction surface on to old metal dosent fix metal fatigue and dosnt fix the warp if it been run to hot to many times. Plus why no new springs in the clutch disk while you where in there?are those parts hard to come by?

Clutches need to be balanced when manufactured as they rotate at speed , same like tyres. If not they'll vibrate and won't make good contact and wear out quickly.
