Paul, your videos are awesome. We have replaced damn near everything in my M21. It worked fine for two weekends then started grinding 4th again...so frustrating. Can not think what else it could be. New pilot bearing, Autogear case, gears, synchros etc...

Some time ago I had called Hurst Performance questioning why there is no listing for the manufacturing of a Competition Plus for the 1981 Corvette model year. Their response was they do not have the proper mounting plate. Can you supply the part numbers to complete the installation? The transmission id the Borg-Warner/ T-10 Thank you

I do custom Hurst builds and sell the complete Hurst line. The Hurst shifter has a better bias and Better 2-3 shift.

Hi Paul. I have a '73 Vette. 16 years ago when I rebuilt my Muncie, I was able to shorten the shifter throw. The factory shifter arms have two holes in them instead of just one. I installed the 1-2 and 3-4 linkage rods into the hole closer to the pivot point. My linkage rods had a fork on the end, with a separate pin connecting the fork to the shift arm. I had to grind relief pockets into the shift arms to prevent binding but it really shortened the shift throw forward and back. Have you seen shift arms like this? Yours in the video only has the one one the end. Mine had another hole right where you put your 1-2 and 3-4 marks.

The above video is using HURST arms which are aftermarket. Most factory Muncie shift arms in Corvette applications did have the two positions.

I can’t get the stock shifter mounting plate off my trans. It has recessed Allan head bolts. Do you know if the hurst shifter will mount to the stock mounting plate?

no it will not. You need to heat them up and shock them

Thank you. I ended up pulling the transmission because I wanted to change the TO bearing anyway. I heated them, shocked them and they came out. Someone had put a lot of thread compound in there.

I have a muncie 4speed in my olds 442 and just recently when ever I let the clutch out in first it will try to pop out of gear and once in a while it will pop out while starting off I have no idea what it is. will i need it to be rebuilt and have 1st replaced? or could it be as simple as just adjusting the linkage? any help appreciated!

Because it was rebuilt, doesn't mean the wear on the engagement teeth of the gears or sliders and or shift forks was addressed. Rebuilding skill is never equal.

You fill to the level of the fill plug which usually is 1.5 quarts. We recommend Driven Racing oils GL-4
