You can pull the whole cage off if you remove the screw that you said was for tension--it's actually there to keep the pivot pin captive inside the knuckle. I've transplanted a whole cage from one derailleur to another. The RED of the same generation have a steel screw by a titanium pivot pin, and eventually the steel screw wears through the pivot pin. The rival (and force) have steel pins.

Very little maintenance can be done on these new derailleurs. it's also interesting that both pulleys cracked.
