I'm not sure if Brian mentioned it, but make sure to check the float bowl for leaks first. They seem to have an issue with cracked overflows. I had two carbs both rebuilt only to find out about this issue after install.

I'm on my last ditch effort Brian. I saw the part about the felt washers on the throttle pin/rod that leak air and should be replaced. I ordered some and they will be here soon. This is the last thing I'm going to try and have checked everything else. The minute I hit 3000 rpm's or higher, the engine does not return down to idle and sometimes increases in rpm's. Cable checked and is good - nice even pull on both carbs simultaneously. Nothing else sticking. Can you offer any advice? Thanks again. Love your videos.

When you spray carb cleaner or wd40 around those shafts does the engine slow down?
@KeepOnWrenching2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t end up having to replace the seals. I dropped in/soaked the area and old ones in marvel oil. That worked for me. Are you sure the diaphragms aren’t cracked? Even the slightest puncture can cause real issues. Sounds like a carb problem to me. I’m struggling with a similar issue with another bike. I’ll probably rebuild/clean the carbs again.

@@KeepOnWrenching I'll try that as well. I haven't done that.

Brian, the fuel mixture screw all in then back out 1.5 turns on each carb. With both of thse carbs do they have to be sequenced to each other. I pulled the plugs, and they look a little black. You'd think this could be my issue. Why I'm blowing out smoke? Maybe it's just a carburetor adjustment ? Do you rebuild these motors for other people to, or just for yourself. What state are you in
@KeepOnWrenching3 күн бұрын
Carbs need to be synced at the cables. Start at 1.5 out on mixture. I think I have a video. Sounds like you’re running rich. Sync butterflies kzbin.info/www/bejne/jICrc5Wdep2Zicksi=3T4FwIHhz6juDB6a Adjust: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXPCnpt4mamlnrMsi=nVplh8TnICH11rdt I don’t take in any projects. I bet it’s a carb/throttle adjustment deal. It’s finicky

@KeepOnWrenching thank you Brian for getting back and sending g other video's of yours to check out. I'm hoping that's all it is a carburetor adjustment. I'll check it out next week when I'm with the bike again. Thank you again

Hello everyone! I'm trying to restore this specific motorcycle (Honda cb350 Twin), and I'm currently reviewing the carburetors. Where can I find that manual? It would be great for me!!
@seriousros7280 Жыл бұрын
maybe I'm being daft but what are you bending when you are adjusting the float height? It's hidden behind the carb body is it the metal bar which connects the floats? Shouldn't the gasket fit without a sealer? ... great video though very thorough - thx

Thank you for video. Question : How do you replace a torn Diaframph (sp) on the slide ?
@KeepOnWrenching4 жыл бұрын
I’d have to look specifically but I believe they just pressure fit into the slide. That’d be a great video for me to do in the future. I think I have a spare new one laying around.Thanks!!

Here's a good video. I followed this guy's method, but installed the new diaphragm from the bottom of the slide. Use your fingernail to create a little space between the plastic ring and the metal ring. kzbin.info/www/bejne/enzaq3pogs1ngNE&ab_channel=HepcatHarley Common Motor method looked scary.

If you ever gotta pull those diaphragms out that permatex is gonna make that a nightmare to clean off and reinstall just saying... Otherwise your videos have been a major help for me in my cb350 restoration. My carbs ended up being unsaveable so going with mikunis 😎

So what if it isn’t free sliding after install??? Oh and also the factory Keihin air screws have a stamp on them to identify one half side
@KeepOnWrenching3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never seen a mark but I think the color helps. Can’t hurt. You can reach inside and see if it is sliding freely and returns too.

I'm not 100% on this . But isn't the hight of the float bowls measured on a slope (as the Wight of the floats will be pushing the spring down .) And not the point of shutting the fuel off
@KeepOnWrenching4 жыл бұрын
I’ve always measured height in this way and not had issues. There could be other methods tho. I recall seeing a diagram in one of the manuals.ii will keep my eyes open for alternatives. Thanks for commenting and bringing this to my attention.
