Excellent tutorial - thank you for demystifying this process. Is there a way to confirm you have the right amount of shimming? Just feel - I.E. not loose and not binding?

Watching your video here again. I'm rebuilding the steering gear box on my 1942 GPW. It was filled with grease and had a binding when turning to the right. However, when I opened it up and cleaned the grease off everything looked good. The sector shaft fit snugly in the bushings and there was little to no wear on the worm gear or the sector shaft nubs. I'm debating if I need to replace the business and such or not. The worm gear shaft had rust and the steering column sleeve is a bit dented and rusted on the inside. What do you recommend?
