How to recolour your leather bag

Step by step guide on how to recolor your leather bag.
Disclaimer: I am not a professional bag restorer, this video shows my DIY version of leather bag recoloring. Professionals may have other approach and procedures however, this procedure works for me so i am sharing it to everyone.

If the bag is made of faux leather, it will really peel off in time and you'll also notice the crumbling on the material used. But genuine leather would only have minimal cracks and discoloration overtime. I can help you in restoring the bag if it's made of genuine leather. thank you!

Hi! Kamusta effect ng leather paint sa bag, hindi ba nag bakbak sa overtime na usage? Which is better ba, dye or paint sa leather?

Hi! it will lighten overtime so you need to retouch. regular leather conditioner application will prevent color fading and cracking. Leather Dye is used on untreated leather. most leather bags are already treated so the only option you have is to use leather paint. hope that helps!

Acrylic dries stiff so if you’ll use it for your whole bag, there’s a high chance that the leather will crack. hope that helps.

Hello! An update po. I used the same product for my new preloved bag I painted it and dried it using heat gun nawala kasi yung stickiness e. Bantayan lang kasi possible masunog yung item mo. Pwede rin ata ang blowdryer. Do it at your own risk po. Onti- onti lang po ang apply ng paint ah. Pero guys, paalala washable pa rin yung paint so, mas okay if may magamit na top coat na ginagamit sa mga paintings. Will update again pag may napansin akong mali. Stay safe. :)

Hi! If it’s a light shade of blue to a darker pink color, yes that is possible.

yes, but the rule in leather re-coloring is that you can go darker to its original color but never lighter. e.i: Light brown to red to maroon to black. hope it helps!

Because it is specially mixed by the paint manufacturer for this bag. I brought my bag to them so that they can match the paint exactly as it is with my bag color. hence, the "special" color on the paint packaging.

Leather dye is for deep coloring, it penetrates through the leather. Leather paint provides top coat color and is best used for leathers that are previously colored/treated. hope this helps!
