I just did a version on Garageband. Some I had to do by ear, some I did with sheet music. I got some sounds very similar and others I went my own direction with a lot more choral effects. I also sang and changed the words - sort of a parody - called "The tour guide". It's an homage to my brother who's birthday is tomorrow. He's the "tour guide" and a huge Kraftwerk fan. I posted previously that we saw Kraftwerk live. So it's a shared experience and I hope he likes it.

Stellar work, sir! I had the good fortune to see Kraftwerk live in June 1981, I believe. It was shortly after Computerworld was released. My brother and I were huge fans and I owned all their albums. We rushed the stage and made it to front and centre. The concert was brilliant. We managed to participate in their "pocket calculator" number where they used portable devices, come to the front of the stage and they let the audience tap on their tiny keyboards. It's a treasured memory.

I love this channel and the classic synth deconstructed songs. Unfortunately we are not all as skilled as the doctor and have issues recreating the synth sounds presented on this channel. I would like there to be a section at the end of each video where each sound created is auditioned clean on middle C Key , This way viewers can sample the sounds if they need too. I personally own a Roland W30 and would love to get these sounds into my synth.

Excellent recreation :) One note: I think the "mellotron" might be an Orchestron (like mellotron, but using loops on discs instead of tapes), they had one and used it extensively (Radioactivity is the best example). I have its repro Audio Unit in IK Multimedia Sampletron, but sadly it seems like the disks they sampled were badly worn out, and pretty much unusable.
@CrossCuntryFranco2 жыл бұрын
It is indeed the Orchestron, the same one used in _Radio-Activity_ and the other LPs (from _Trans Europa Express_ through to _Computerwelt/Computer World_ ); Side 2 is almost an Orchestron playground ("Das Model/The Model" and "Neonlicht/Neon Lights" being the ones that used it).
