I had this video in my watch later playlist. I have been on this year+ long journey of healing and recovery due to things in my past. I'm a people pleaser and will easily sacrifice my well-being for others wants and I have been growing in that area to do better for myself. The biggest thing I've come to find is the pressure I put on myself to stay along this unfulfilling path of doing things I find out that I don't like from my father's pressure of finishing what I started. I've found this specifically in the major that I am taking/schools that I go to, and more. My mother is also somewhat in the same boat of influence but in other areas of my life. I know deep down inside that there is something greater for me despite the emptiness and just plain confusion I have been dealing with for the past years. I am truly blessed to have listened to this video. Because even though it didn't cure my issues, it laid out a decisive plan for what to do next. And quite frankly, to face my fears of being who I truly want to be despite what the world, society, and what my family thinks. Because at the end of the day if I lose, I gain experience, and if I win all everyone would say is congratulations and I knew you could do it. Thank you, Mr. Banks, and I hope and pray blessings upon your life and everyone else who is in my same position.

Your comments about pursuing something encourages me to share this experience: From the time I was in my late teens, to about 5 years ago, I was always fascinated by Bonsai. I finally too the plunge. I took a Bonsai class, created a Bonsai, did it again the next spring, and the spring after that. At home I looked around my yard for trees that nature had planted, which I could turn into Bonsai. I watched a number of Bonsai KZbin Channels. I bought some (inexpensive) tools and some supplies, and shopped thrift stores for pots that could be useful. After loosing two plants in two years, and asking myself if I was getting value from my experience with Bonsai, and being honest with myself, I decided that I was no longer willing to put the effort, energy, time, and money into this hobby. After I made that decision, it felt like a weight had been taken off my shoulders. I do not regret giving into my life-long fascination with Bonsai, because I now know the pleasure of Bonsai, as well as the pain. This just was not "right" for me, and I had to let it go. Thanks you for sharing all you share. Peace.

Crying was the LAST thing I thought would happen during this video! When you said the days of neglecting your interests and curiosities ends today my friend, I really felt that and I’ve never even heard you speak prior to this video. This is the first video I’ve come across. “prioritizing our interests is our way of making a committment to our selves” I’m putting this on my fridge

Thank you so much Ron for your ideas, tips, and insights.❤ When I always 12 years old I love to sing and wanted to be a singer. When I was a teenager I wanted to get married and be a mom. Well I got married that didn't work out but I ended up with one child a son whom I love very much. Now I'm taking up reading it's becoming a passion.

This video is something I didn't know I needed until now. It really is difficult sometimes to not live on autopilot... Also, I love what you said about fun and how it doesn't have to stop in adulthood. I guess this means it's all just part of a balancing act. Thank you for this video, Ronald!

Being an adult Is a trap. While I always wanted to be in law enforcement the fun factor quickly faded as I slowly aged. Some people adult too hard and those years of wide eyed wonderment go out the window. I try to wake up with appreciation like the first time I stayed up all night just to watch the sunrise or create new experiences. The key is learning even in microdoses so that way life will be constantly fulfilling.
