How to Reduce the Risk of Bruising Before a Surgery | Dr. Paul Nassif

Hi. My name is Dr. Nassif and I'm answering some KZbin questions. Is there a way to help reduce the risk of bruising before the surgery? Yes. We're going to send you a sheet which tells you all the medications to stop taking besides Vitamin E, Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, things like that, drinking alcohol. These are some of the things we have you stop doing. Some of these obviously are blood thinners.
Taking arnica before surgery, I think we give that after surgery not before in case it causes some problems with the platelets. In addition with this we'll tell patients to actually be very healthy. Some times we'll give them Vitamin K before surgery. We also want to make sure that we get blood work to make sure that they have no bleeding issues or anemias. Thanks.
