Be careful, as a framing carpenter the pain increased a little every year, so every year I took a few more aspirin. By the time I was sixty I was in the habit taking six or more every work day. I nearly died from internal bleeding. I had lost so much blood that two doctors considered my survival a miracle. I haven't had an aspirin in a couple of years. I also consumed too much salt. The salt and aspirin abuse have done irreparable harm to heart and lungs. I now have cold feet that never warm up because my blood circulation is so poor. Now I am bedridden. I had no clue that it would be salt and aspirin that would do me in.

I've found that sometimes one of those will work very well on a certain type of pain and another will not do anything whatsoever. An example I can give was I was having very severe pain with an inflamed Achilles tendon and could barely walk. Tylenol extra strength did absolutely nothing to relieve it and I mean it was as if I hadn't taken anything at all. I bought Ibuprofen and the results were amazing. There was a great reduction in pain and the tendon went back to normal between a week or two. Other times it seems aspirin was just the ticket. At other times Tylenol seemed to work much better. I've only tried Aleve once and got no benefit from it at all.
@karinberryman2009 Жыл бұрын
Yep! Panadol is good for bringing down temperatures and inducing sleep but no good for real pain. This is fantastic! In the EMS world, if I have a patient having chest pain and I think it's likely cardiac in nature, I have them chew 4 "baby" aspirin. (81 mg aspirin) It prevents the platelets from aggregating in the blocked coronary arteries, and can keep someone having a heart attack alive long enough to get them to the hospital. If it's one adult size aspirin, (375 mg) they can still chew it for the best and fastest way to get into the blood stream. It won't taste very good, but I'm pretty sure being dead tastes worse. Well done!

I used to be able to take Aleve - took it for a lot of sports related pains. You could call me a 'late bloomer' but once I hit puberty I became deathly allergic to it... and the whole range of NSAIDs. Never heard of anyone having NSAID allergies at that point in time and I am kind of shocked how much it's noted in commercials for "don't take if you're allergic to NSAIDs." Can't take aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve even found out I have bad reactions to codeine and even some steroid pain killers too. I am so hesitant about being put on new meds (especially ones for pain) because I'm afraid to find out what strange thing will happen. But... it's not "TO-mare-ick"/"to-MARE-ick" it's "TUR-mer-rick" ('tur' like in 'turn' and 'mer' like in 'mermaid')

Acetominophen can kill your liver, its metabolite is detoxified by the same enzymatic pathway as alcohol's toxic metabolite. So if you drink too much original NyQuil or take tylenol and go out drinking, you are much more likely to have liver damage as the alcohol is preferentially detoxified. When I was working in Toxicology at the hospital 30+ years ago, the theraputic rangle for acetominophen was 10 to 20 mg/dL (mg per 100 mL of blood plasma), and was considered toxic over 25 mg/dL. Theraputic ranges for Aspirin was 10 to 100 mg/dL for headaches, 100 to 250 mg/dL for arthritis and over 300 mg/dL was considered the toxic range. So essentially you could take about ten times more aspirin before you had toxicity effects (not counting stomach issues).

People would have more faith in the medical industry if they would tell the truth about what they know (like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine)
@itsROMPERS...3 жыл бұрын
Every medical source I've consulted (not friends on Facebook or a friend of a friend, but licensed MDs and medical research institutions) say that Ivermectin is used for parasitic worms and sometimes a skin condition called Rosacea in humans sometimes but more commonly in animals. Hydroxychloroquine, chemically similar to quinine tonic water used as a mixer in alcoholic beverages, is used to prevent or treat malaria, and sometimes for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Neither of them in testing have shown any therapeutic action on preventing or treating infectious diseases like COVID-19, nor in asthma of other pulmonary (lung) disorders. There are side effects with these drugs, so you should not use them "experimentally" in case you heard they'll help with symptoms of COVID-19, because they won't help with COVID, but could cause other negative side-effects. If you haven't been tested positively for COVID-19, the best option is the vaccine from Pfizer, which is fully FDA approved, and prove effective against COVID-19, with very low incidence of side effects in millions of people all over the world. The vaccine from Moderna is still under EU licensing but in practice has proved similarly effective and with minimal side effects as the Pfizer vaccine. Incidentally, some people think these vaccines are "rushed" but are based on mRNA technology that has been in development for over 50 years.

Because each of the anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, acetominaphen [CORRECTION: ibuprofen], naproxen sodium, and others) operate in similar ways on the inflammatory body function, taking different anti-inflammatories together is basically THE SAME as taking MORE of any one anti-inflammatory.
