I wanted to make a video helping to lower the anxiety of people thinking about becoming a reefer hauler. there's not a whole lot to it but I just wanted to make a video demonstrating how to control the head unit and talk about the difference in Dryvan and reefer.

You will have the most issues with frozen loads set at -10/-15°....some trailers won't keep up. You will need to monitor the unit every couple hours or so to make sure it's still working! I've had a unit turn off itself after fueling because of air in the fuel system! Open the unit doors and use the primer.....use start/restart button as necessary.....pump the hell out of it until it starts and stays running....it might take several attempts, but don't wait too long to call for service....frozen will lose about -1° internal product temp per hour!

Hey there Brother Cash!! Not sure how I missed this one. Question, for example in your case as an O/O, what if the Reefer Unit breaks down, does Loves and those places do repairs on those as well? And to protect the load (ice cream for example), then what as time would be of the essence? Thanks buddy.
@CashisKingtrucking
@CashisKingtrucking 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah if your reefer has problems you need to take it to a reefer repair typically carrier or Thermo King there's a few mechanic shops that work on them. Yes time is of the essence.

@CashisKingtrucking
@CashisKingtrucking 3 жыл бұрын
-20 to 70. Trailers lose insulating value as they get older so -20 on an older reefer trailer is tough

When you dock at the receiver do you allow the reefer to run or shut it off? I get tired of being docked for up to 6 hours with a frozen load set at -10 & the reefer ending up in defrost mode constantly trying to keep at temp with doors open wasting my fuel. I always override the "door open" sensor that automatically shuts the unit down while docked at the shipper or receiver. The receiver documents temp readings upon arrival of a delivery to make sure temp on reefer matches temp on the bills. But sitting in a door for hours waiting to unload or load with doors open & reefer running wide open struggling to keep at temp makes no sense to me. It's a HUGE waste of fuel that they are not paying for & the product is not staying at temp during the process anyways. I let mine run because I don't want to give them any reason to reject my load. I arrive on time & at propper temperature documented by security at the gate. But sit for hours with doors open in a dock door waiting & wasting fuel?

Do you pulp every other pallet while loading and do you use a digital temperature gauge? Also do you shut down the reefer while loading? Thanks
@CashisKingtrucking
@CashisKingtrucking 3 жыл бұрын
I randomly pulp a few pallets and I like to use the digital thermometer as much as possible. It depends if I shut down the reefer or not. If they don't take forever I'll leave it running. If they ain't even started loading it after a couple hours I'll shut it off.
