Great video & great product. For anyone else having difficulty reading the ml numbers on the ink refill, I used a white chalk marker from the dollar store, and I won't over fill again. Hope this helps someone.

I have seen a few vids where you can reset your printer to think this is a new cartridge so you can again monitor your ink. Is this possible to do with HP cartridges of the 61 variety? Thanks

Thank you for your recent order, we are happy to hear that one of our representative provided an excellent service to assist you. Yes, Empty” and “Low Ink” alerts are COMPLETELY NORMAL for all HP 61 & 61XL ink cartridges which have been refilled! While at first this may be an unusual workflow, it does allow print operations to proceed. In many cases both ‘Ink Out’/’Low Ink” alert messages will be displayed, including ‘counterfeit cartridge’ or ‘non-genuine ink cartridge’…these are normal alerts that can just be ignored by pressing continue/dismiss/Ok. You should be able to continue with print operations.

Yes, you can definitely refill inks with no fixing base. It's an extra tool to keep the ink in position and to avoid leakage.

Hey if you backed the screw plunger off a little when youre done filling, I think it would stop the few spilled drops, just like a calk gun has a plunger release

Thank you for your excellent tutorial. I have the syringes, but ran out of ink to refill. I have a bottle of black stamp pad ink made by Cosco Marking, can I use that temporarily until I get an order of the recommended product? Would the viscosity be proper to not block the tiny orifice? A very simple task of refilling cartridge, made complicated. You need just a syringe and ink.

LD Products Worked great. To be honest I didn't use a base. I peeled away the cartridge labels and was able to see the color of ink in each fill hole. Used the syringes filling about 3mls for the color bays and 6 for the black. Covered the holes with a sticker and let them sit on a paper towel for an hour. Wiped away the ink that dropped from the head and installed. Ran the "clean heads" program a few times, reusing the same paper to not waste any. Works great, wish I did this sooner with ink cartridges with the money saved.

Desiree Glenn I actually bought the cheapest bottles of ink I could find on ebay. Came with a bottle of each of the colored ink, and then 3 bottles of black, and had 4 syringes. It wasn't even this brand in the video. No "base" needed, just let the cartridges sit on a paper towel for an hour then wipe. Run your printer "cleaner" mode. Works perfect.

I still do get an "ink level low" notification, but I know it's not low as my prints come out perfect. When the color quality starts showing low on prints I will simply fill them again.

No, the ink formulation does not matter. But, you can't use 61 cartridges in a printer that uses 65 cartridge and vice verse.

I could not put the syringe in to take out the ink per the last step.. Is it supposed to pierce the back silver/ copper area that is hard? It bent my syringe, and I can’t get ink out.

Hi, we are sorry you are having trouble with that last step! Are you referring to the small rubber syringe we begin talking about at the 5:45 mark? If so, the rubber syringe isn't piercing anything, it is just making a connection with the rubberized piece on the back of the cartridge. It is designed fit easily into that rubberized piece, hope this helps!

How do you clean the syringe and needle assemblies?

Simply empty the contents of the syringe back into the bottle. A few pumps of the plunger will eject 99% of the ink. When you have filled all the carts, take all the syringes and fill them with water and rinse out. You can pull the plungers out initially to allow the tap water to rinse the majority of the non-toxic ink out. Then put the plunger back in and draw fresh water through the needle until clear. Then use the plunger and air by pumping the plunger to blow out as much of the remaining water as possible. Remove the plunger for the last time and allow everything to dry before storing them away for next time.

The ink doesn’t come out of the bottom like it does on the last step of this video what am I doing wrong? This cartridge hasn’t been filled in several years, could it just be that I have to add more? Or should I give the sponge a chance to soak up the 10 ml’s of ink?

Since the printer cartridge is several years old, it might be no good. The sponge inside an older cartridge will dry up and harden over time, which clogs the printhead. If the syringe has suction but isn't able to pull through the printhead then the printhead is likely gummed up. We recommend refilling recently depleted printer cartridges for best results!

Hello, I have a question about refilling cartidges. Do cartridges have a print limit before they stop working? because I got told that they reach a certain point of usages before they stop working. If so, is there a way to disable/prevent the usage limit.

They generally do not have a print limit but the internal components will wear out after repeated use. So it's not really that they "stop working", but the print quality will diminish over time and require replacement.

You may use ink-chip re setters instead, if your printer model has a chip re setter in the market for sale. If you choose to use an ink re setter, make sure to get your printer’s exact match.

Honestly, ink refills are likely to fade faster, and will not last as long as new inks or OEM cartridges.

A hard reset usually does the trick. Please try: 1.) Remove the cartridge(s) giving you the error 2.) Close the printer door and disconnect the power cable 3.) Wait 10 seconds 4.) Plug in the power and reinstall the cartridge 5.) Try to print. Unfortunately you cannot reset the ink levels on your printer after refilling this type of cartridge. The ink levels will always show empty on your printer's display but you can still continue to print and you should be able to print just as many pages as brand new cartridge. Hope this helps!

@@trh5169 If you install the cartridge and are not able to get around the error message, try removing it and cleaning the gold contact points (dots) on the side of the cartridge with a lint-free cloth. Then, reinstall the cartridge and try printing again. You can also try the hard reset process that we explained earlier in this comment thread. If those two steps do not work, it may just be a faulty cartridge, which can happen from time to time. Hope this helps!!

The microchip on the ink cartridge is meant to detect refills and your printer will update the firmware to start printing the dreaded white lines. The manufacturers literally destroy people's printers who try to be fiscally and economically responsible.

Just a trick on some cartridges don't fill them all the way. Some also are chipped and have to be reset an expensive device I hear. Wipe the head with 91 proof alcohol.

How do we reset the memory of the chip that's inside the 61 cartridge so that the printer will recognize it as a new one? Every method I have found either doesn't work or is for a different ink cartridge. It was easy to do with 21/22 cartridges for another printer I had but I have been stumped for the last 3 years trying to get these 61 cartridges reset. I have tons of ink but it's useless until the chip's memory can be cleared. PLEASE HELP!!!!

If you are using a remanufactured HP cartridge, you will likely see a message on your printer saying the cartridge is "previously used" upon installation. Unfortunately, you cannot reset the chip on a remanufactured cartridge but it should still work in your printer. This doesn’t mean you were sold a cartridge with missing ink. Since the cartridge is refurbished your printer is reading it as if it was still the original cartridge that has already been used. Even though your printer cannot tell, the cartridge is filled to capacity and should print the same amount of prints as an original. To bypass the error, clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth, reset the printer and acknowledge the empty cartridge message by pressing the “OK” or “Resume” button on your machine.
