How to Refill BROTHER LC404 Ink Cartridges

never drill that , maybe heat a pin and put a hole in the cartidge ....

Melting a hole definitely works too, and there's no problem doing it. However, in our testing, we determined that there was practically zero risk of plastic shavings provoking clogging of the heads or causing any other printer issues. The design of the cartridge valve plus the printer's own internal design makes it unlikely for shavings to make it all the way to the printhead nozzles. Furthermore, by drilling horizontally as shown in the video, we limit how many shavings even get inside the cartridge in the first place. We have not experienced a single head clog over multiple cartridges drilled on multiple separate printers in our lab, nor have we had any reports from customers of clogging since launching our refill kits for LC404 and LC406 earlier this year. You can absolutely be confident drilling into your cartridges with either a power drill or with our handheld tool!
