I definitely need to try this. WD-40 sells white plastic spray bottles, with their logo, that are refillable, but it would be nice to have a metal spray can to use and refill. Your channel and Mike Attempts are awesome.

At the Hardware store where I work people ask for WD 40 and they say they want to use it on their sliding doors or hinges as a lubricant. I try to explain it was invented as a water displacement, hence WD and I think it was formula #40. Anyways it's not good as a lubricant since it wears off quickly. Love the product though, lots of uses. Refill gallon is the way to go if you use it often. The tiny little cans are around $6 at our store! Great video Magdad.

Magdad, As always, good information. You can buy a Zep Commercial 32 oz. Spray Bottle for $4.71. Using the Zep spray bottle would save about $17.00 less the value of the WD-40 in the spray can, and you lose the can's character. You can buy a WD-40 Spray Bottle for $25.47. If I ever get into a need for high volume, I'd go for a Zep Bottle. Bob

That was my first thought, considering spray nozzles I've used tend to eventually leak / malfunction anyway. This method would give someone a very nicely labelled container though. I wonder if Magdad might comment on the perceived quality of the spray nozzle? They're certainly not all the same in my experience.

Very interesting. Years ago I bought a gallon of WD 40 and a spray can which you could refill simply by unscrewing the sprayer. No locking ring. It was (and still is) a much better economic deal than buying individual aerosol cans. I guess WD40 decided to get clever with its packaging. Never thought I would use a gallon of WD40, but I did. Thanks for the historical background, especially the early can with the paper label. WD40 now also owns 3 in 1 oil products.

Well since your video, they will get rid of the threaded cap and it will be sealed.. Have you seen any of the videos where they refill the original cans and pressurize them to approx 90 psi.. There is also a can that you can put almost anything in it and you can pressurize it.. I still get cans of WD-40 that run out of pressure and still have 1/4 of the comments left.. Sometimes I think they plan it that way... Good video MD... Take care my friend and God Bless...

Very useful idea. However, it was not the "corvair" Atlas rocket - the word corvair remains forever associated with a really terrible Chevy product - it was "Convair" Atlas, named after the Convair company, a San Diego based rocket company. They lasted in the military industrial complex until the late 90s, when I think General Dynamics had them for lunch one day. As always, I enjoy your videos.

What????? You missed a golden opportunity to Flitz the top of the can. Chuck must be so disappointed. On a serious not, would WD-40 work in a squirt bottle from the dollar store? That would save the initial $21 outlay. But then, there wouldn't be a much anticipated 357magdad video. Who would watch you pour it from a gallon container into a $1 squirt bottle.

@ihrescue

@@357magdad You mention a gallon can lasting 10 years. I had purchased a multi pack of aerosal can WD 40 from the early warehouse store Pace and that crazy supply lasted many years. But here was the rub, I often had lost aerosol propellent while still having some considerable supply of WD40 in the can. So me being thrifty I used a spring load punch and punctured the can up in the reinforced dimple at the top where the side meets the top and made an opening to vent the little gas still in the can and then drain the rest of the WD 40 to use it. I put it in a jar and transfer it to small bottles with glass eye droppers that were saved from some food source and they work great. I am still using that salvaged WD 40 from pressure-less cans for a couple of decades. Crazy to think how many thousands of cans went into the waste stream that had considerable ounces left of a solution that uses so little in the first place. I have also done this with Spray on dry silicone lube to good success.
