You might want to also mention to people that the quality of the pens they're using makes a difference. I recently bought two packs of cheap Bic pens, one black and one blue. The blue pens work amazingly. I can shade beautifully and get a wide variety of line darkness. The black pens however, have gloppy ink. They won't shade smoothly, they won't make a line unless you press harder so the ink comes out, they're a nightmare to work with. Sometimes you just get an old pack of pens and you're fighting your equipment.

Kopic markers are not that reliable in my experience. they don't have that great of durability. I personally changed to Ohuhu alcohol markers, they last quite a bit longer and the brush has never bled, at least I've never had one bleed yet
