The problem with that is that heat will be reflected back to the engine, and will eventually cause many things to fall apart, especially on those crappy audi engines that are full of plastic parts. So you're basically cooking your engine. There are sound deadening materials without the aluminum side which would have been the proper choice.

Great work on it, mate. Personally I think it would have been better if you left the TDI badging as it was.

That was the initial plan to to take off the peelable paint. But personally I liked the result enough to leave as it was.

Thanks for tip about the sounding deadening, all the foam has come off the back of my engine cover. I'll put that on the list of things to do over the summer.

i personally always remove all covers... i like that i can see whats going on with engine without every time removing a ton of crap plastic parts just to take quick peek at engine and see if it has leaks and what not

What sound proofing did you use?

Hi, great to what you have done. Where did you buy the sound deadening from as I need to do my engine cover too?
@CarAndMechanical5 жыл бұрын
Just from ebay, make sure to get stuff specifically for engines as stuff with bitumen based insulation will go soft/gooey and leak
