Hi there. I bought a Dyson DC14 for $10 at a garage sale. So far I've given it a good clean (filters and plastic cannister) as it smelt a fair bit, and hubby and I have replaced the clutch for the roller. I've noticed two of the little rollers on the bottom plate are missing and it's scratching my floor and making vacuuming heavier. I've tried to lever one out, but didn't want to break anything. Video on replacing these rollers would be great. Keep up the awesome work.

Hi, thanks for your comments. The idea is to show that you can easily replace a multitude of items on a Dyson or any other brand of vacuum easily and for a tiny fraction of the cost of a new, equivalent model. Although the Canister can indeed be cleaned if just dirty the demonstration model's canister was heavily scratched and marked as well. Regards.

I think replacing the internal hose can be a good idea even if it is not damaged. I have found on my DC 14 that the internal hose actually pushes the sole plate into contact with the floor and over time it will set into the curved shape and won't push the soleplate properly

no overall need to replace the cyclone unit really, scratched or not, I have a 12+ years old dco7 & only replaced the filters (£12-generic ones), though stripped the cyclone unit down & washed it all...works like a new machine!!
@eSpares5 жыл бұрын
Hi James, thank you for your post and you are right if the cyclone unit is scratched you would not replace it for that and only if it was damaged beyond repair would you need to replace it.

Very informative video, and very much appreciated. I would however really appreciate more information on getting the built up stink out of an older dyson. What de-odorizer is safe for the plastic and motor? Can it be disassembled, and the parts run through the dishwasher, for example?

Thanks for the comments Zhara. We have another video on this problem here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6q8n3mhZ5t_fqc

Hi Ann, it should just be a case of placing a flathead screwdriver under the wheel and gently levering it out. If you're after replacements, just head to the eSpares website with part number ES928955, which should be what you're looking for. Thanks!

Hey, at 2:25 when you replaced the filter, you didn't put back in everything you took out - like the casing around the filter, or whatever it was. Is this not necessary?
@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
+redbullmarky Dyson used to supply the filter cartridge complete but changed to the filter pad. If the foam filter element can be removed from the frame and the filter screen is in good condition reuse the frame but if you just use the filter pad air flow will push it onto the grill and hold it in place on its own.

Hi Espares can you do a dyson ds01 motor change
@LAD2418 жыл бұрын
I used this video to refurbish a DC07. I got a second hand cyclone assembly to save money and the old one was broken and soaked in hot soapy water and left it to dry for about a week, I did the same with the canister and reassembled when dry. I replaced the filters and upgraded it to hepa and replaced the brush roll and it is like brand new

If a part has broken in the bin release you may need to replace the complete cyclone. For details go to: www.espares.co.uk/search?SearchTerm=dc07+CYCLONE

Ok, but how do I know? Is there a video showing how the release works and what it should look like? Especially a way of getting the flexible line into the eyelet at the bottom of the assembly... I just need to see how the line and the release sit in order to make the bottom release.

What about the seals around the unit?
@eSpares10 жыл бұрын
Hi Kenneth, most seals on modern Appliances no longer perish as they now are made from a synthetic material. However if the seals are worn, our of shape or damaged then of course replace them but if they look in good condition this will not be routinely necessary.

hi eSpares, do we HAVE to use the filter pad or hepa filter on the dc04 because it just catches the carbon dust or is it there to stop something I don't know?
@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
There is little point vacuuming and allowing dust to pass through the machine as it will only create more cleaning. You can remove the filter but will increase your work.

If the tear is at the end of the hose, you can just shorten it, no? You'll lose some length obviously.
@eSpares10 жыл бұрын
That may be possible jooper99, but if the hose has worn through once it is likely to fail quickly the second time so may be only a temporary repair.

You put a clutched hose on a non-clutch wand. This will damage the hose end

eSpares You could've cleaned the old bin insert in yellow and put it in the new bin for it to look more original
@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
Good idea in practice but as the original was no longer available it may have confused viewers and the 'colour change' made the replacement stand out. Obviously if the original cone was undamaged you could have transferred that. 😊

@tomobickles1019 жыл бұрын
the reason you struggled to fit the wand into the hose is because it is not the correct wand for that hose. the grey and green dc04 has a different hose to anyother dc04 it has a soft rubber top the others have a hard plastic top with a catch which fits into a groove in the wand please do not mislead!!
@eSpares9 жыл бұрын
tomobickles101 Thanks for your comments. We have listed a total of Eight Dyson original main hoses for the DC04 but all of these are no longer available from Dyson. The hose used in the video is actually a 'compatible' hose and although very slightly different to the original that is no longer available, is the most suitable we can supply. We certainly would not wish to 'mislead' viewers but think that most would be happy to be able to find a part that could repair their vacuum.

@KylesCarsYT8 жыл бұрын
eSpares you can get the right coloured parts new or used, also you can replace the green cone with the yellow one to have a nice new yellow cyclone yellow handle parts can be swapped over etc. any parts that are coloured can be swapped over to a new part without effecting the performance of the new parts
@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
Dyson produced many different coloured versions of their models and as they get older some of the parts are no longer available. As we said in the video you can get most parts but on this model the handle and cyclone are now only available from Dyson in the green. The different colour will still fit and perform in exactly the same manner.
@KylesCarsYT8 жыл бұрын
eSpares actually the handle is diffrent on the green machines, look at a clutched handle vs unclutched handle, you will see the end on the nonclutched handle is bigger to stop it being put in the hose you forced it into, also the bin insert can be swapped put for the yellow one and pretty much anything that has colour on can be swapped over

As someone that has refurbished five (5) 'curbside' free Dyson 07/14's, I'd have a hard time sending my machine to you for service of refurbishing, where you are doing barely a fare job of 'cleaning' the machine and explaining how a POS 8 year old machine is busted up and maybe saved.
