SOAKING WET TIP: When you have a plant that is clearly overwatered, I often find that standing it on several layers of kitchen roll (or something similar) helps to wick moisture from the pot, provided the pot and kitchen roll are in good contact. Replacing regularly as and when required speeds up the process.
@martinanemcokova9174 жыл бұрын
AlmostBipedal I do that too. If the plant starts yellowing, I remove the plant from the soil and put it in water.

Thank you so much for sharing your extensive knowledge, Kaylee. I feel like plant sellers should include a short little “tip” sheet like this in their plant orders! Maybe not a physical one but in an email with a client’s order. Of course you hope your client to have a bit of knowledge or experience with plants, but not all do and I feel like a lot of bad reviews or unhappiness with “businesses” is more often the buyer’s more limited ability to care for the plant properly than the seller shipping a “bad” plant. It’s not to say the latter doesn’t happen. Anyway, this video was extremely helpful and I’m so grateful for it! Thank you. I just got a verrucosum in the mail and have been stressed about keeping it alive while it acclimates and this makes me feel so much better. PS the flow chart is definitely not unnecessary. SO necessary! THANK YOU!!!!

I ordered some plants before a heat wave. Had no idea one was coming. Plants came by 2 different carriers. One carrier was on point, the other experienced several exceptions. As a result 2 plants arrived damaged, one with burned tips and another with brown spots everywhere. I know it was the excess heat from being in transit longer than expected and a surprise heatwave. It sucks but I wouldn’t dream of contacting the seller, doesn’t have anything to do with them. For the Americans, USPS is always on point, UPS not so much. The USPS plants survived the heatwave with zero damage, UPS not so much. Happy this came across my feed, just in time because I’ve got 2 lovely plants on my hands that are NOT happy!

Oh my, so glad I watched this when I did. I got a p. billietiae in the post on Monday and I did everything wrong. It looked good and was moist and I potted it on a sphagnum pole. Fingers crossed they are as tough as advertised. Watch video, recriminations, guilt, hope?, resignation, resolve. Today 2 days later the p. Glorious hybrid arrives …dry. In soil. The bottom is sitting in an inch of tap cool water and I’ll check on it until it’s moist again. Then grow light, no touching for a week I promise. Tomorrow I should get something even more dear and I am glad now I have a plan. Thank you

The thing is, people love the plants so much and are so eager to give it the best looking pot, best soil, best sunlit location, feed it fertilizer etc... we end up killing it with love. The trick is always to space them out, one thing every 2 weeks. However I understand that doing this this will cause another love sickness... over watering.

First thing I did with my monstera was repot it because the pot was so tiny and the plant was huge that when I put it down I accidentally even broke one of its roots that was clearly growing out of its pot. I just keep staring at it and hoping I didn’t kill it as I also watered it. Kill me now 🙄 I also got a alocasia polly but with that one I didn’t do anything as it suffered a bit getting home. A lot of leafs fell off and 2 of the remaining smaller leafs are yellow. Now I’m terrified it will spread to the bigger leafs. I also haven’t finished watching this video and I should probably finish it.. 😂
