This video shows you 10 unusual variegated houseplants that are highly unlikely to revert - in some cases they CANNOT revert at all!
Please excuse the bad audio quality! I've done my best to fix it but apologies if it is a little sharp. Microphone malfunction :')

@@cuddlefish322Calathea ‘White Fusion’ really benefits spending summer outdoors in filtered morning sun. My white fusion got spider mites too, so I forgot about it outside and by the end of the summer, it regrew leaves that seem tougher. It must be a case of shock, like how a Ficus benjamina throws a fit when it’s conditions change. Organic fertilizer will be easier on the plant as well.

Cuddlefish omg me too. I had to quarantine it and because it wasn't in my general view, I neglected it and i had to trash it. I really hope to try again with another. I was literally thinking about it the other day and I realized too late that I probably could've regrown it from the tubers

I really like a few calatheas but I always avoided them because everyone says they are such divas and very sensitive to pests. but the white fusion was secretly on my list for a while now and a few days ago I finally ordered one (Black Friday deal 15€ lol) now I am scared to death lol I don't know anything about calatheas and after watching this video I am even more scared xD fingers crossed that it likes me tho

Bahareh Zameni filtered water, high humidity, and indirect bright light. That's about it. I don't even have high humidity most of the time 30-40% 😳and my calathea was fine. The calathea I have right now(medallion) is doing ok, it's a little dry and I sometimes for get to water it so the edges are a little crisp, but it's other wise pretty ok. They just be trouble adjusting/transitioning most of the time so you gotta pamper them a little bit for the first couple days/ weeks with a humidifier or a mist-er and it's worked well for me.

Not usually a huge commenter on KZbin but wanted to give advice to anyone who has issues with Goeppertia (formerly Calathea) White Fusion. The humidity in my room is roughly 60-65 and I don't shove it close to a whole bunch of plants (which is usually done to increase humidity in a tight area). Watering with distilled water helps (I use reverse osmosis), and having a healthy amount of light helps! Lots of browning of variegated plants aren't actually from lack of humidity, but just lack of light, nutrition and water! Oh, and of course, let it acclimate for a few months :D My White fusion has been thriving for months and the biggest thing I've learned is just not to be nervous about taking care of it, it senses your fear

A great topic no one expected! Thank you! The ctenanthe does revert to green in low light, and I have 5-6 white fusions and they revert to green when put into low light, and will give variegation when I give them dappled direct sunlight. However, I live in the tropics and plants respond different to light and watering here.

Ilsemanii rarely reverts, but it in fact does. The owner of the nursery where I purchased mine, David Fell of Fantastic Gardens Hawaii, has shown examples of the plant reverted. Siddhartha has a great write up on Ilsemanii in his Facebook “Philodendron Enthusiasts” group that details this plant and how to tell it from its Jose Buono not-so doppelgänger.

I got my calathea white fusion around 10 weeks ago. I got it at a discount as a “sparse” plant, and when I received it I wasn’t sure I’d be able to rehab it (I’m relatively new to this). It had spider mites and the new leaves coming in looked wet and transparent, I was worried it was a bacterial infection. I sprayed it down, treated the spider mites, cut off the new leaves that were worrying me, stuck it in a very large glass jar for humidity, and crossed my fingers. Since then it has outgrown the jar and is now in an ikea Socker mini greenhouse. It has put out three perfect new leaves, larger than any it had before, and I haven’t seen any new browning. Soon I’ll be moving it into an ikea greenhouse cabinet since it is starting to outgrow the Socker. This was the first calathea I purchased and I was scared as hell, but really it has not been that difficult. I don’t have a humidifier but keeping it in an enclosed space has done the trick for me.

honestly, a calathea white fusion was my first calathea. I've never had brown tips or something. I give it tap water and I've never checked about the humidity. It just has it's place next to quite a few other plants and it's thriving

Def make more videos like this. Any sort. Considering that these plants are more expensive and that you are a grower and seller. Most of us wouldn’t know any better. I def wouldn’t. Ty!

I had a feeling that Cobra is for me, but after your recommendation I am sure 😊 I invited one to my home. First it seems so inconspicuous, but it can repay you with constant surprises - recently every second leaf is half or most of the white 😁 Love her 😍

Stromanthe Triostar is my biggest love and mine looks like it's looking variegation. I had a highly variegated one and the offshoots are coming out mostly green. I'm currently experimenting with light to hopefully get it back.

It makes sense to me that the Ae Ae would be more sensitive given that it's a heirloom variety from Hawaii which (at sea level at least) has a milder climate than pretty much anywhere in Florida.

I loved this video. Does anyone know if the golden dragon (not the variegated) plant is stable. I found one with Paraiso verde type of coloration on leaves. It is not white but scramblings of light greens. Is that stable?

Maybe (hopefully) someone here knows this (question about ThaiCon). I wanna buy a babyplant instead of an cutting, since I like seeing plants grow from tiny to big. Do I need to look out for an already good variegation (since I learned for eg an albo I'd need to look out for a nice variegated stem)? I guess not, since its from a lab and stable? Saw a few plants with only some speckles and others with lots of patches. Not to mention the ones with speckles are only half the price from ones with already a few half moon leaves (and I'm talkin about little tiny baby ones with max 4-5 leaves). So can I easily buy a cheaper one and still get nice patches of cream later on or should I start with a baby thats already nicely cream-colored? Does it have to do with how much light the plant gets as it gets more patchy with more light? Because that should be no problem. Lots of light here (south&west facing windows). :)

Hey. So I know you think people don'T care much about roots, but I actually do! Haha! So for me and probably others it would be cool if there could be a video about Rootings. For example I never know how much root I should give different Propagations til I can put them in a pot. If there are different things that I can do to make sure my plant can already survive in a pot. Much love from Germany

It’s so funny watching this in late 2023, regarding the pricing on the Thai constellations 👀😅 the prices have cut in half in 2023 alone. I paid over $100 early in the year and then by summer they were half that price. They’re even less than that now. 4” pots are regularly on sale all over Canada and the USA for as low as $30 (average is probably $60 I’d say, as of October)

Hey Kaylee, I actually have both a regular and a reverted ilsemanii so i would not say it has a stable variegation. I will however admit that my reverted ilsemanii is however still in juvenile form and so maybe the plant will gain variegation in the future

I've had the same experience as everyone else with the calathea white fusion, where it was easy at first, and then got spider mites. But after I cut all the leaves off, they grew back and now it grows fantastically without any extra humidity and I just water with tap water. But for some reason, I can NOT get a regular maranta to grow for me.

Hey! I have a suggestion that you may have done already, but I havent seen it yet. Moss/coco coir/horticultural felt poles. All the pros and cons. What to do, what not to do. Self watering poles with holes in pvc pipe vs wicking cord. I havent seen any videos like this from any other KZbinr. Ive been trying to dig up all the info I can on the topic while my monstera deliciosa and other climbing plants are still ok without a pole, but im getting mixed results online. Some people say coco coir is the way to go, while others says sphagnum moss. Ive found one person who uses felt with wicking cord under it. What do you think?
Why I don't sell these Houseplants...
