Actually, with regard to the tears 'going back in', that doesn't happen. What's actually happening is there's a small duct in the corner of your eye that drains into your nose, and it's the reason crying makes you all sniffly. So it's not that you're not crying, you're just not crying fast enough to overwhelm you tear ducts.

I’m only 14 and I’m emotionally numb. It’s so frustrating it feels like a weird empty stone feeling in my chest that I can’t get rid of. Idk how I got in this place, I wasn’t really depressed or anything. I can’t feel nostalgia like I used to and my childhood stuff. I feel like it’s ruining my childhood.

I like that you're pushing the notion of actually going into the emotion and moving past them. Some people are pushing the notion that they can remove people's trapped emotions without having to express them, which I'm highly sceptical of. I had a very powerful breathwork experience yesterday where I cried out and released some deep stuff, related to the trauma of me being put in an incubator for 10 days at birth, without being held by a human being in that time, which imprinted on my a deep sense of isolation and alienation from other people, and closing myself of. I also had some exposure to Holotropic Breathwork, but it was difficult for me to get into it with groups of people at the time.

Sorry. Dont mean this as a mockery but genuine curiosity, how can you be so certain youre crying about something so far back? It feels extra to me but tbh, I lack the experience and am not into minimizing unknown experiences. Do you just have spontaneous thoughts or just s feeling like, when you fall in love you can tell for who it is, like you feel it

I'm curious which type of breahtwork you used. Looking for avenues to release my trapped emotions from abuse, neglectful and harsh upbringing on so many fronts. All I can feel is sadness in small doses or emotionally flat.
@sarpsays
@sarpsays 10 ай бұрын
You can do holotropic breathwork yourself, actually that's usually required for the real emotional cleansing, trauma purging stuff I've noticed. Wim Hof usually just gives me a burst of energy and clear mind. When I do holotropic breathwork I have the exact same experience of mind-blowing stuff coming out, like purging emotions, things I didn't even consciously know. I did it in a group once and still teared up silently and the facilitators came (everyone had eyes closed). But when I do it completely alone I can absolutely purge it out. Just breathe super deep, and play around with the rhyhtm/speed, going for 30-90 breaths then retention. Same as Wim Hof really, just laying down and deeper and gets faster usually is how I do my version.

I tried the breathwork one for about 10 minutes and this is how I’ll explain what I felt: you know when you have a glow stick and you have to break it to release the fluid and make it light up? I swear I heard and felt that in my chest and it scared me right away but then I realized I felt a lot lighter. It helps a ton! Thank you!

I did the breath work and it was amazing. First I was sceptical because I kind of hate meditating and never can focus on my breath for even 5 minutes. But I recently stopped with some drugs, a guy i liked didn't want me, and these things have triggered my very well known feeling of sadness, emptiness and abandonment. I almost never cry and this time I also wasn't able to. The pain I felt was just too much, so I gave the breathwork a chance. And let me say it was WILD. I have never experienced anything like this. I haven't felt this calm and complete for so long and I'm wondering - Is it really so simple?!? I've been caring this feeling for 15+ years, struggling with addictions so I do not feel it, 5+years in therapy - while all I needed to do was an hour of breath work?! :D Anyway, THANK YOU so much!

You should try writing in as much vivid detail as you can about an event in childhood it doesn’t necessarily have to be a really bad event, but just choose something what you might of felt a little awkward or something that you could not quite understand in your past. Some of the stuff that comes up is incredible. Don’t bother with meditating it only serves usually to suppress emotions.

WoW, thank you ! So well explained, new valuable insights into the human condition and although the solutions are all 'hard work' the benefits certainly outweighs the effort we need to put in to expand our consciousness. May I suggest a look into Qi Gung, which might explain why the workout releases these emotions too - everything is energy and so are trapped emotions. Namaste

Thankyou so very very much! I did the breath work meditation and managed to release a lot of trapped emotions. I felt very emotional and an intense tingle sensation started at the top of my face and went down to my arms and chest. I have never felt anything like it and it lasted for the first part of the meditation. Feel truly blessed to be able to release it. I have been having talking therapy for 6 months and releasing them in there has been difficult and have only somewhat felt a sense of what I felt today. Thank you once again for this video and sharing your knowledge! Peace Out, and good luck on your journey! Good on you for facing your fears in doing so you have done so good! Much Love, Charlie

Got a choking sensation in my throat when I tried to find the place in my body where my grief for my beloved cat, who was deliberately killed, is stored. I thought it would be my heart, I often put my arms over my heart and remember what it was like to hold him, try to contact him by saying his name over and over. I still cry about him even though it's been two and a half years since he died. Maybe the choking sensation I experienced was because he died by being grabbed by the jaws of a Greyhound and shaken so that his airways were damaged. He died around five hours later in the lashing rain and darkness in an alley beside my house. When I found his cold and rigid body next day his gums had turned yellow from Jaundice caused by lack of oxygen to his liver. The jaundice and the fact that there were no bite marks or blood puzzled me for months and I thought that even though I'd heard dogs barking it couldn't have been them and he must have been poisoned. I'd heard the commotion with dogs and then the man next doors voice as he walked them in to his yard on leads around 5pm. He'd been shouting something to the neighbour who lives on the other side of the alley. I'd been about to go out, had been recovering from a foot operation and was slow. I hadn't gone fully out because it all stopped as I was about to go from the back door to the front. It didn't occur to me that my cat could have been killed, I didn't know that my neighbours were that bad and the anaesthetic was still in my system causing a stupefying effect. The man who killed him was a mentally ill man married to a dominating woman who has an obsessive hatred of me. The man killed himself five months later but she is still there and as malicious as ever, sometimes in cohorts with the neighbour her husband spoke to after using his Greyhounds to kill my cat. None of them told me what had happened and I feel so sad that my cat lay suffering in the rain for hours afterwards. He was a uniquely beautiful ginger cat, highly intelligent and gentle, I rarely fall in love but I did with him.

@@OliverCowlishaw Thanks for your reply. I told a few people what happened. After I'd written on your comment section a short while ago I experienced a fluttering sensation on my left side, a few inches below the ribs. It was similar to that upset feeling of having sobbed uncontrollably and calming down even though I hadn't been sobbing, just silent tears. I was able to barely feel a primitive feeling of shock and horror, a realisation that my neighbour killed my cat who was like part of me, ( by using her husband. He was a bit simple and followed her orders in everything. When I say that my cat was like part of me, I mean that he was my baby and it gave me joy to hold him, even to look at him, and he'd sort of hug me back. I realised that it felt like murder because it was like an attack on me and indeed on two occasions prior to that she looked as though she was tempted to kill me using her car. I've never done anything to her or to anyone, all I wanted was to be left alone. There's no one to talk to about it but I think that it helped to find where the feeling was stored. There must be a reason that I haven't been able to let go of the sadness I feel about this, I never realised that there was also a sense of horror and deep down inner child type terror that people would do this.

Very helpful, thank you, but it's more about freeing trauma from sub-consious rather then from the body

Hey Oliver, great video. Would you consider doing a video where you would make a full 30 or 60 or 90 minute video of you doing the deep breathing exercise with the technique that you use? I'm curious to try it out but I like to see a very concrete example in front of me so I can sort of "get" it the right way the first time, also I think it would help with motivation to complete the exercise from start to finish.
