1. Stop faking/copying it - reflect and make it authentic for YOURSELF; 2. Stop avoiding difficulties - face them and get momentum and more confidence; 3. Work daily goals - go to the offense and don't show up randomly. Set yearly goals in quarterly deadlines; Sidenote: feel and earn the wins along the path as well; 4. View the outcome of your work - visualize the outcome with a deep level of connection (be specific and thorough about the feeling you'll get and add every single detail that you can to that visualization).

“Stop asking if you belong and start asking am I being of service!” That one message is so on point! There are those who play expert vs who are experts. Key to becoming an expert-Solve people’s problems. Enrich people’s lives. If you can’t today, study the problem you want to solve, help a few solve that problem and figure out what your unique contribution was while solving that problem. Then you may have something to base your expertise in.

Getting people off their pedestal in your mind is so HUGE.😶 When my director told me half the time she has no idea what she's doing, but "that's okay, as long as you're willing to figure it out" and she revealed to me how she doesn't know, but she doesn't judge herself on it. It was such an AHA for me.🙏

Peeps. I'm sure you're delivering value. I know you can't just shut off worrying. Look at your sacrifices. Look at your commitment through your challenges. Take people off their pedestal. Or step on your own pedestal and look at every way you are serving your community and family. Your sacrifices are the fastest way to diminish imposter syndrome. Honor your sacrifices. Develop your sense of belonging day-by-day. You got this!

Every time I was called on in class, I was sure that I was about to embarrass myself. Every time I took a test, I was sure that it had gone badly. And every time I didn’t embarrass myself - or even excelled - I believed that I had fooled everyone yet again. One day soon, the jig would be up … This phenomenon of capable people being plagued by self-doubt has a name - the impostor syndrome. Both men and women are susceptible to the impostor syndrome, but women tend to experience it more intensely and be more limited by it.

Thank you for sharing this - it is so hard to hear the reality of my actions up to now. I recently heard you talk about bringing it, instead of expecting it - the friendship, the achievement, the goal. I felt like i was SO close to the truth, my truth... then you said this today: Stop Avoiding Difficulties. Be Real, Stop Copying and Conforming. Ouch. Grateful for your video - because i could relate to all of the negative behaviors I’ve been practicing. I SAY I want a better life, and I stop short right before I take the action to get there. “It’s gonna be hard.” “I don’t want to work hard.” There is a saying I’ve heard a lot over the years - If I keep doing what I’ve always done, I’ll keep getting what I’ve always gotten. I’ve made great strides in the past 365 days in my mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health - and I’m still holding back... ACTION TODAY, Brother! I’m going to make that 5 goal list right NOW: 1. My Health - gonna lose those 10 stubborn pounds, visit that gym I’ve been paying for four times a week, and meet with a nutritionist this month (already have that appointment), 2. Real Estate Investing - gonna take that action now, stop stalling out, by writing down the Marketing Plan I’ve already been taught and scheduling those time blocks, 3. Coaching - gonna continue to watch Transformation Week and take notes, AND apply this stuff you’re sharing, already signed up for CHPC, and I’m going to stick to my Mastery education schedule, 4. Relationship, Love - He bought us a couples book Personality Plus and I’m going to read it with him, chapter by chapter and apply what we learn to make a stronger connection with him; Family - I’m going to pick up the phone and talk to my siblings and parents more, spend time with them monthly; Friends - I have a handful that I really love and I’m going to make the time to visit with them, and call them, 5. Self - I’m going to continue my personal growth by reading 4 books this year that address letting go and moving forward, I’m going to continue to attend therapy, and I’ve going to have monthly ME days for self-care at the next level. I’ll be listing the tasks to get me to these goals - Better health, Better income, Better relationships, Better coaching skills, and a Better ME. Thank you, Brendon!

I have a tendency to take on the personality traits and goals of those I admire but I feel like an imposter or as I call it a chaneleon or changing. I've done two things in my life that are consistent and truly aurhenticallt me and while disabled I think I would be less so if I really applied myself to what I do best and even do for free. I question and listen to others without judging and feel passionate about helping others and making a difference even if I do so without payment. I authentically and genuinely want to be a Life Coach or Personal Growth Coach even if I'm doing it without pay. I think my adaptability to others can be a real asset. The other thing is my art and crafting at home as long as able and coming back to it over and over since I was 9. I've never gotten serious about either as in monetizing them but this is me. Your video presentations are really helping me and I'm already 60 in 2 weeks. Still your video series on personal growth is a real gem to treasure.

And there is difference of someone who is trying to achieve something but lacks the confidence and knowledge to feel secure enough to operate in that field. As to if someone created something without the expectations to create something but rather just is trying to fix an existing issue, and suddenly created something unknowingly, that makes the imposter syndrome even worse.

Nice video. Your support did not answer, so I have to choose another way: Just to clear my mind, because I'm blond, male and over 40. Which is the promised never before released course, which we get as all access subscribers? It should show, how you made it from 7 to 8 figures. We got YNBM in December, but that was $49 in 2015, not the in the sales copy stated $2997. Please let me know, which of those many courses is THE course promised one year ago? Because I actually don't find the course justifying the hype in the sales copy.

@@LifesGuideToExcellence Thank you. The original sales copy said it will be a NEVER BEFORE RELEASED course worth $2.997,- and it was said "ADDITIONALLY" to the courses lined up before. After I wrote my emails - one year after signing up - it was said, the $2.997 was a TYPO (!) and it should be $297. That was changed AFTER I wrote my emails asking for the course. All of the courses which you list have been released before. So, three lies in the copy: a. no ADDITIONAL course, b. no course worth $2,997 and c. no never released before course. I signed up because of this nice promise in the sales copy (even for it was very hype). Now they pretend, it was a typo and all courses have been delivered, even for none of them really meets, what was said in the sales copy. And I wonder that they pretend, they have released the course without even mentioning it is THE course, which was made that much hype about. Totally unusual. I release a course, which I made a lot of hype about, and when the time is there to release it, I don't even mention that it is THE course???? Does not look like the usual Brendon Burchard selling tactics, which are used to make even more money through upsells. The truth is: there is NO such course. This subscription is about making money for Brendon, instead of "caring" for the customer as pretended. My lawyer shares my opinion.

Imposter syndrome doesn't manifest the same for everyone. Mine shows up in trying to attain perfection. I know I'm of service, but I hate the idea of making a mistake that will make me appear incompetent. It shows up when I feel I have to figure it out on my own and I have to push myself to ask questions because I think I should know. It's a funny cycle because I'm so aware it's happening 😅

Part of the imposter syndrome is not something you can turn on or off. If someone's brain is wired in the way it is, and it is wired in a factual and proof of concept way kind of thinking, just an example: how can you make conscious decisions, if you don't have the full picture that you need to make a proper choice. Answer: there is no choice possible, and keeps continuing to search for until every aspect of information is known, and absorbed, and backed with the knowledge you can confidently make the right decisions.

Not convinced by this video. It kind of shows that he never suffered from imposter syndrome (props for admiting it, though). The issue is not not giving enough of yourself or faking your commitment. It's exactly the opposite -- giving your all and still feeling like a fake and that you are not good enough. So the advice "stop faking it" is wrong and harmful. I'm not saying that there aren't any useful bits of advice in the video, but the core message is a miss this time. And there is also a cultural background to this syndrome -- girls are often taught that they need to be perfect and anything below perfect is not good enough, boys are taught to act and that good is simply good with no extra meaning attached. This is of course a generalization, but it affects how people view themselves and shows that the problem is a complex one with no easy fix.
@themarcosvini
@themarcosvini 6 жыл бұрын
I think the faking aspect of the matter is better understood if the person could identify whether they're being an impostor or just feeling like one - maybe both. And if self-awareness doesn't do the job of identifying that, they surely need some other type of mental health help. I love the fact that you pointed out the cultural and social-behavioral side of the problem, but I believe the video addresses the more pragmatical and productivity aspects of that. Yet, I agree that he could clarify a little bit more his take on what he considers to be the imposter syndrome or in what context he is using the term.
