D2R and D2S have difference. And as you can see stock bulb is D2R(it has black tape on the bulb). This type of bulbs are for reflective headlamps, which actually is 03-05.

Slight correction... The headlights on the black 350z are from the 2005 Anniversary edition, not 2006. Source? I have the same car.

Hold up, so if I had 05 HID's. Can I buy 06+ lights, D2S bulb and use the 05 D2R ballasts to power the D2S in the new 06+ lights?

when i start my 03 350z and switch on the HID lights.. i get an engine light and goes in limp mode.. the lights are very dim too. any idea what might be going wrong ?

hello. on my 04 350 (hid model) I bought depo hdlights few months back. my parking drl on driver side has not worked since the first day. then my LED turn signal driver side also would go out and not flash when blink. just remain solid. I changed back to regular 3157 and works fine now. but my low beam 6000k would go out sometimes as well. changed it and saw that one was burnt. I then put 8000k, when I got home I noticed my low beam on driver side would not turn on all the time. until I toggled on and off the lights. as well, my cut off is now wavy...it was not before. I think my ballast got wet shortly after I put the headlights in. it also does not make an igniting sound when turning on lights. is this my ballast and my bulbs??? I mistakingly bought cheap bulbs from eBay n I did have a 25 watt resister. and my drl on driver side?? appreciate your help.

If I have 04 with stock HID’s n I get 2006 HID’s including with the new ballast is it plug n play or do I need to do more for it to be compatible?

I have an 05 w/ HID, and bought 06 oem headlights (not depo). Can I just transfer the old wiring harnesses and ballasts to the new ones, and use your 06 replacement bulbs? Is there any difference in the ballasts between the 2 versions?

+freakpunker The wiring harnesses will be exactly the same, and the ballasts and bulbs will be the same as well. You should be able to swap the new headlights over with our replacement bulbs with no issues.

+tha Kim The 06 350z takes a 3157 style bulb for the front turn signals. +Eddie Sticha You can indeed put any 350z headlight into any year of 350z, they are all the same size and shape. The bulb style depends on if it is a headlight with factory HID's or not. If it is a headlight with factory HID's it takes D2R for Low beam and H7 for high beam. If it is the composite headlight then it takes H7 for Low beam and H1 for High beam. Except the newest style headlights have a bi xenon headlight that only takes a D2 style bulb for the high and low. You can always get or make an adapter for this.

I have an '03. HID Lowbeam went out, replaced it with $85.00 new one from O'reily, it still isn't working. Help! Should I go to a mechanic? I'd rather do this myself.

Also, when I was stopped by MP because of headlight being out, I was told my tail-light covers might be too dark. I bought it the way it is. Can I fix the covers so they aren't so dark?

I would recommend checking your fuses first. Some cars have separate fused for the left and right headlights. So if you replaced the bulb with a new one and it still does not work then it is either a fuse or the ballast is bad. If the fuses look good, then you have a bad ballast, and it might be cheaper to replace the entire set up with a GTR Lighting HID kit than buying a new factory ballast.

Were the tail lights the stock tail lights? If so they are fine and legal. If there is a tint film, that can be peeled off. If they are smoked, there might not be much you can do to change the color.

This is totally misleading, 03 -05 have a 6 pin headlight connector, the 06-08 has an 8 pin headlight connector, you cant just plug and play and 08 hedlight into an 03 350Z.
