Looked pretty straight forward. I’m going to do the demo on my master bathroom. I already have a reciprocating saw and now I know what blade to use! Thanks for sharing.

Good luck. I have a series of videos on how I remodeled a bathroom. I would suggest getting a free estimate from a plumber. I found that to be the hardest work because a tiny leak can be a big problem.

Thanks for video, Raymond. I am about to to take out my jetted tub and put a shower in its place. Cutting it into pieces with wood saw blade sounds most practical. Watching out for electrical and residual water is a good tip, too.

Thank you for this helpful video! I didn’t completely understand the part about “sitting on the main drain“ I’m not sure what you meant.
@RaymondCanDoIt Жыл бұрын
I just meant to disconnect everything from the jetted tub before trying to saw because even the vibration of the saw could damage your drain pipe.

HI Ray, great video...what do you do with the remaining plumbing if you just want to tile over where the tub sat?
@RaymondCanDoIt9 ай бұрын
You could cap the water lines under the subfloor and cap the drain line.
@MrPaulman8082 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video! So how did you go about addressing the electrical? Did an electrician have to remove outlets and such?
@RaymondCanDoIt2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I put an electrical box in my addict and put wire nuts on the wire. I actually may use it for a heater in my bathroom.

Hi sir. Can a Subway tile base built around a garden tub in small bathroom be demoed and used as floor space/closet with sliding barn door? Garden tub total waste of good space. Thank you for a reply with your opinion. PS. Can any of the Subway tile be salvaged. The rest can be chopped up and hauled out to garbage. Thank you
@RaymondCanDoIt11 ай бұрын
You could totally reuse the space for storage. We thought about putting cabinets in but decided to go with a freestanding soaker tub. You probably won't be able to salvage the tiles. They will break and chip. The backs will also have thinset that you would have to scrape off. So it probably won't be worth salvaging.

What do you do with the open water pipes while you’re waiting for the new tub to be installed? Did you weld caps on? We are about to tackle this, and I know we won’t get the new tub in for a while. But we can’t leave the water to the house turned off for days.

You can either cap it if it's copper. For the cpvc pipes we put a sharkbite shutoff.

@@RaymondCanDoItthanks so much! A little intimidating using a propane torch, but that’s the only way with copper pipes I guess.
@RaymondCanDoIt Жыл бұрын
You could try to use shark bites. They push in and when you want it off, they have a plastic tool to pry it off. My site gets a few pennies if you click the amazon link. amzn.to/3SfuFLk

I have a question. I’m removing my jetted tub with a demolition company. What kind of flooring is underneath if any? Is there much of a difference compared with an existing vinyl flooring, that will be replaced ? Will plywood need to be added? Thanks
@RaymondCanDoIt Жыл бұрын
There is just a subfloor plywood underneath the tub. Once the tub and tiled flooring were removed, only the subfloor plywood remained.

Except if you are me you want to keep the tub but i am dealing with jets that are broken but have no access to get at it ... plumbers only want to cut the thing up and put in a new one where I want to keep the tub ... I get the job is more complicated but sheesh what a waste ... that tube looked in good repair too ....

Yea, I get it. If it was something we wanted to keep we would have left it. But we wanted to update the bathtub.
