Brilliant - thank you! I could not find an aerator tool remover online - big "shame on Moen" for not making one available. I (and more importantly, my wife) loves our new Moen kitchen faucet, except for just one problem. Our Chihuahua puts out a bigger stream than the faucet - the flow reducer must have been designed to make a southwestern state happy, without regard for the rest of us. Fortunately, this video shows how to remove the aerator so the flow reducer can be removed. Our Chihuahua's stream has been replaced by a race horse stream - we can now actually rinse our dishes in a reasonable amount of time. Many thanks for this video!

Thank you for posting. I had no idea the nozzle could be dis-assembled and cleaned. I used the cover from a metal electrical box instead of an allen wrench. Got a much better purchase on it and it worked out great. cleared accumulating deposits and faucet is like new again.

Thanks so much for the tip! However, I am not having success loosening with the allen wrench. Any suggestions?

Someone in a later comment suggested an electrical box cover, anything long and stiff enough will work

Hi Thank you. I would like to take out the water saving thing. Do you have a video as to how one can do that? Thank you so much for this video :)

This same tip works with the Moen Renzo faucet. Also--I found using an Allen wrench to be a hassle (keeping both sides of the wrench pressed against the little slots while simultaneously turning the piece counter-clockwise). Presto! Use a heavy-duty paint scraper--the blade fits in the slot perfectly, and you just twist with your wrist just like you would a screwdriver. Easy to take apart and put back together.

I want to install an over the counter water filter/ alkaline filter on a faucet like this? How do I do that? Can someone help me understand if that would work or not?

The Allen key tool did not work for me; not enough grip and strength. I got out my small hand saw (for wood) and used the edge opposite to the handle. It was thin enough for a perfect grip and I was able to turn it counter-clockwise.

Just wanted to let everyone know that with this particular type faucet, the aerator is in the hose. Hope that helps😊

Whats in the hose is usually just a screen, but removing that and cleaning it is necessary as well

Same I couldn’t get mine off, just get a compressed air can and blow the screen it will fix your issue and you will get more flow, just did mine and it worked

Mine is effectively flat. I might need that aerator tool mentioned in another comment. Ridiculous. Mine is so flat, I can't get anything to grab the slots. Maybe I'll see if a spanner will do it
@roccomiller26475 ай бұрын
My problem is the screen is basically flush with the four littledivets so nothing flat can be laid across. Apply teeny bit of pressure to turn and any tool falls out

The first thing I do whenever I get a new faucet is remove the flow restrictor. It's the only way to get decent water pressure.

Can you purchase a new aerator to install yourself?
@FixinItRight3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! Good luck!
@allensmith23023 жыл бұрын
I found out that it depends on the model of faucet you have. My Moen touchless Brantford aerator is not replacement so I'm forced to purchase the entire wand assembly. I really like the faucet but find that very annoying.

I have a hidden aerator in my Moen pull down faucet and got it screwed off like you did using a paint scraper but don't think HD has the right size aerator replacement to go inside the hole....it says 1.5gpm and rhats what I bought but can't seem to figure out how to install the replacement piece into the middle. No threads in middle where I took out old broken aerator. I put 1 in, screwed face back on, but only the outside circle spray works and not the main middle one. So frustrating.

Take a 2inch putty knife and clamp it in a vice with 3/8 inch of the blade exposed and square-with the spray head in your hand engage the wrenching grooves with the blade of the putty knife and turn-Do not try this without the putty knife clamped in the vice...you could slip and slice something up , like your hand!
