Your 2 year old video saved me grief today. Tried to hammer it out and got no where. Searched KZbin and came across this video. Picked up a puller and minutes later I was done the job. Thank you!

This definitely works. Worked on one day and the next day tried this. Tighten the pitman arm puller. Hit on the adjuster. Took up slack and it popped out. Thanks for the info.

Attempted this yesterday without a pitman arm puller... Needless to say I feel your pain. I have done pretty much everything you've done, so my next stop is going to be the auto parts store to pick one of these up.

So glad I ran across this today. A 10 minute job turned into 3 hours of me hammering and what not. Saw this video and picked one up at harbor freight. Took me not even a minute to get that thing off 😂

PB Blaster, pitman puller, breaker bar, torch, sledge, grinder, and a drill. The taper bolt kept mushrooming, so had to grind it off. Drilled a hole into the center of the taper bolt, stuck a bolt in that hole, and used that bolt for the pitman puller to push on. POP.
@trevorwoods58834 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I had lost hope until this. Worked great for me. I had drilled a 3/8 hole in mine so I had to put a 3/8 bolt in it first then it popped right out with the pitman puller.

This is what I ended up doing. Worked instantly.

was in a similar situation with an '85 E30. I believe I used a ball joint tool that I rented from autozone. Good job.

Ok I'll give it a try. I just spent 4-5 hrs on my Xj. I did the track bar first bc I thought that would be the hardest... wrong! This tapered bolt is a mfer! My next step ( and last resort) was going to b the smoke wrench. Hope puller works. honestly I think it will break though. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't brake an arm of the puller. Ty..good channel!

Next time you should set something behind the drag link to prevent it from flexing when you hit it.

Please help!! I’ve done everything u have and I’m stuck. Mind isn’t ground down exactly flush like urs is, but it cut off and ground down a bit. I’m doing it on a Grand Cherokee, but it’s the same. I bought the pitman arm puller, and I can’t get it positioned right, so it slips off.
@Archifx4 жыл бұрын
Keep working at it. Only the pitman arm puller will work. Persistence my friend. Stay focused.

Fix It Now dude u have no idea I’m about to just cry lol. I drilled a hole for the pitman arm puller to sit in. It either slips off at the arms on the pitman arm puller or it slips off at the bottom. I’ve been working on it since yesterday I just can’t get the damn thing to pop out

My son and I didn't watch your video until after our nightmare on his 2000 Wrangler TJ. I ended up grinding and drilling out the old mounting stud. We tried everything. Took about 2 hours until we finally got the old mounting stud out. I couldn't believe what a pain it was! Never seen anything that was such a son of b?tch!

You don't need the tool. I just removed an original one out of a jeep with 210,000kms in 2 seconds . You wasted your time doing it under the jeep. I removed the whole tie rod assembly with the stabilizer attached then once it was out I rested it on a block of wood and hammered the stabilizer out with the nut still on the top so I wasn't pounding on the bolt. You do not need the tool at all. Its about working smart not hard ;) especially if you were going to replace those tie rods anyways. You can't separate it under the jeep with a hammer because of the play in all of the heim joints . It took me 10 smacks with a hammer once it was out from the jeep.
@Archifx2 жыл бұрын
Oh pls. You got lucky. Go try it on another jeep. 9 out of 10 will make you wish you were someplace else.
