If you want to lower the water level in the pan before removal, gently use the toilet brush in a pump action to push the water through the u bend. The pan is usually heavy and it can be hard to tip excess water into a bucket. I always thoroughly clean the pan with bleach before starting any work as its a messy job.

Thanks for this - great video which kept it nice a simple. Managed to remove pretty much all my en suite prior to the plumbers coming to sort the new one - saved them time and me money! 😊

Hi Dan, thank you for an informative vlog on how to remove a the toilet. I am doing my own bathroom refurb, there was a lot of dread with this part of the process, but your tutorial was so useful making the job easy as pie….

Thanks for this video! Is the waste pipe not glued or otherwise secured to the back of the toilet? This one seemed to just slide out as if it were just sitting inside it.

You're a good man! Thank you! I'm kind of dreading this, cause I have to make a frame, plus add Mr Plasterboard and tile and fit for my wall hung loo. It's going to take me ages. I'll have to use public loos 🤮 which I hate. Unless I miraculously get it done in one day.

I have a soil stack that comes out of the wall, I want to turn the toilet 90° but im unsure of the bending to the soil pipe, it would have to be on a platform I reckon but 🤷‍♀️ tight space

Thanks for your video. What did you call off the water with and did you use a new seal or wax around the soil pipe? Also, can you do a video how to remove an old sink. It's all hard pipes, not flexible ones. Hope I am making sense. Lol. 🤗
@PlumbingGy
@PlumbingGy Жыл бұрын
Yeah perfect sense Cleo, yeah use grease around the waste fittings to make it easier to fit and normally you can isolate the water one isolations on the pipework. If there isn’t any, turning off the cold mains at the stop tap (normally under kitchen sink) or turning off outside of property at end of drive or on walkway 👍🏻

If it's temporary just wrap a sealed bag around it and tape it up, if not then cap it off depending on where it connects.

any tips on how you go about putting the toilet back in after installation a new floor ? the toilet will sit higher
@PlumbingGy
@PlumbingGy Жыл бұрын
That will depend on the outlet, if it’s a normal 90degree waste then you’re fine, if it’s going out the wall you can get straight pan connectors offset.

Hi, thanks for the video. How do you block the cold mains outlet as you do at around 3:12 please?
@PlumbingGy
@PlumbingGy Жыл бұрын
The incoming mains is isolated on the valve with a slotted screwdriver, turn the valve from vertical to horizontal to isolate.

great video, I need to remove my toilet to get access to the pipe coming out of the wall, the toilet has been blocked on and off for a few years, I've tried all the chemicals and unblocking technique, and so this is the last resort, if there is nothing blocking in the 4inch pipe and the toilet bend is clear , then I'll just have to accept that my toilet doesn't flush very well , any ideas >?
@PlumbingGy
@PlumbingGy 3 жыл бұрын
Potentially an issue with the drainage, I would also rod the drains to make sure you cover all areas 👍🏻

You would be better rodding from a manhole in the garden if one has a rodding eye even better 👍🏻
@willclarke8604
@willclarke8604 3 жыл бұрын
@@PlumbingGy no manhole visible unfortunatley, just found this comment on a forum - Victorian properties did not have manholes. In fact many properties built well into the 20th century did not have manholes. You will probably have what is called an interceptor pipe somewhere. This will be a vertical ceramic pipe probably hidden somewhere underground with the passage of time. Quite often they are covered with a slab of concrete or an old tile and then the grass or whatever has grown over it. Tend to agree that it would be best to find this and if possible have a manhole dug. Stick your hand down one of your grids and see which way the outflow is running. You can usually work out the direction and try to trace where your interceptor is.

Nice to see a British video, cheers Toying with removing the toilet after kid flushed something down there, not sure what but believe a toy.. Very slow drain now and paper not even flushing Anything else you'd recommend before removing the toilet? I've tried hot soapy water, a big bucket, a plunger and nothings shifting so possibly in the U bend before the waste pipe..? Cheers!
@PlumbingGy
@PlumbingGy 2 жыл бұрын
Try some toilet rods, or something small enough and flexible enough to get round the u bend. In all honesty if it’s a standard toilet it’s probably easier just to remove it and look 👍🏻

@@PlumbingGy I've had a look at some 'auger rods' but they say not for use with a toilet :( The waste pipe is 'tiled' in essentially a 'box' against the wall lol..... From bad to worse hahaha Don't really want to be breaking tiles I'll have a play around with possibly stick my hand up the back
@PlumbingGy
@PlumbingGy 2 жыл бұрын
Head to the merchants and they do a flexible length for toilets it's only thin maybe 10-15mm I have one on the van, if no good just buy a length of 10 or 15mm plastic pipe and use that (done many times) especially on tiled boxed in toilets 😂👍🏻
