How To Remove A VW 2.0 FSI Intake Manifold | VW Golf/Jetta Mk5

I removed mine manifold 2 days ago when replaced thermostat and it was easy to remove. Only thing i found broke was crankcase breather hose plastic one, so i put new rubber one thicker so it will not break again. One thing that broke was a bolt on EGR pipe so i need to drill out old one but what i can see its not leaking even with one bolt but will replace it with new ones.

I have been looking for a lot of time for exactly this video 😂 AMAZING JOB ! Do you think it’s possible to see any carbon build up ? And also, would this engine deserve an oil catch can, tried fitting one but the hoses would just vaccum up, I have the BVX engine code, I really like this engine and plan on maintaining it for a long time.

Lol I'm glad you found what you have been looking for. Yes you can see the carbon build up if you can further remove the intake inlet seals, those rubber holes. You actually can. Yes, you can fit a catch can if you can find one custom made for this engine. I also love this engine, often times people say they're problematic but I haven't seen that.

@@MegatronicsZAthanks for the quick reply, also can you actually clean the valves at home ? From what I know you have to spin the crank to open/close the valves for each cylinder so as dirt and other stuff doesn’t fall in the cylinder, I’m planning on doing a TB clean with intake clean, and after that just try to fit an oil catch can. I know it’s a hard job, however, a video with cleaning the valves would be amazing! ❤ Take care brother, and have a great day, cheers from Romania!

@scundeaiasmin5110 yes you can clean valves but I think you need very expensive special tools to clean them... You are right, as you turn the crank the valves with close and open and as some open you can get a chance to clean them. With the video at the moment I don't think I'll make one as it needs serious money to buy those tools and the channel isn't making money.

What I know from my knowledge is that what causes high fuel consumption is an oxygen sensor, the coils, spark plugs and a dirty air filter. Check those.

Very nice videos, my dad and I have been driving cars with this engine for many years now. Though lately since i replaced the headgasket on my own A3. I get a P2279 error code (intake leak). I checked all the obvious things. All solenoids, variable intake roller, cold start flap actuation, any intake leak location. PCV seems ok. But cant seem to find it. I only seem to get the P2279 code when the car is cold and at low RPM (around idle speed) its very intermittently. I sprayed brake clean all over the engine compartment hoping the PRM would jump from the brakeclean getting sucked into the engine where it shouldnt, but no luck. Car drives and idles fine. Have you ever seen/heard about an issue like this?

No I've never had an issue like this. You asked where the pcv is, the pcv is integrated to the cylinder head cover (the black thing which is on top of the engine). Also, try to check the rubbers which connects the intake manifold into the cylinder head, also check the pcv hoses, the one coming from the cylinder head cover and connecting to the intake manifold, they're 2 so because they are located in areas where they experience a lot of heat they break.

I solved it eventually. The left pcv hose had a hole in it on the backside. You have to take off the intake manifold to take it off.

@J4rn0 yes there's the other long one which is deep just after the manifold, and there's no removing it without removing the manifold.

The pcv valve is integrated with the manifold. The pipe on the left which was leaking connects to the manifold

I think you can do that using a vacuum cleaner, just not sure if it will be able to pull out the carbon

@@refentsechuaka1077 like you said, with good maintenance it can easily do even 700 000 KMs. The killers of engines are poor to no maintenance. With mine, engine oil changes are done every 6 months.

@@razieltac5365 mine also broke too so I just bought new ones, when you go to the parts store just give them your engine number they will give you the right parts. I've made a video on how to replace the timing chain, you can find it on my channel.

Probably I need to remove the intake manifold How I treat the fsi injectors? How to pull them out, (I did once A restore and cleaning injectors and valve’s for another car I have - pt cruiser 2007) But I’m afraid about the injector of the fsi I think it’s difficult to pull them

@@razieltac5365 well, replacing injectors is very simple you only need a special tool "T10133". You'll need to remove the fuel rail, remove the retaining lugs while turning the injector clockwise, the install the special tool and pull them out
