Other than showing the wrong temperature (-30C) on the dashboard, is faulty ambent temp sensor affecting anything else?

My 2011 Nissan rogue is set up the same way but I was able to stick my hands through the grill and reach it without taking anything off

I'm missing something here! If you look through the bottom grill to the right of the front license bracket, it is literally stuck right there behind the grill hanging from above. It is literally a 5 minute job MAX to change it out with a new one! Perhaps it's different on other model Altimas but that's where it is on my '09 coupe!

Right from the bottom. Might be tricky to get the sensor off since its hard to see. Pull out thru opening in grill
