How To Remove and Install Panel Fastener Rivets - Toyota, Scion, Lexus

In this video, I show how to remove and reinstall panel fastener rivets, the kind you push down to remove, the push back up to reinstall. I show this on my 2015 Scion xB, but I assume that Toyota uses these rivets on various, Scion, Toyota and Lexus models.

Great video - seemingly a simple thing to do. When I push on mine (2017 Lexus LS460) that center button is immovable. I wind up prying them up, even with the purpose-made tool that resembles a miniature crowbar, you wind up destroying them especially if its the second time you removed that clip...when I bought my car, the clips that hold on the underhood "beauty covers" were only half there, half were missing. One or two were just rattling around loose in there. There has to be a better way to hold on those panels!

Releasing after pushing them in doesn't work so easily when they're brand new. I pushed the middle of a brand new one in to make sure it was the same type and I had to resort to flat head screwdrivers to pry the prongs out and pull it back out. I put all my force with two hands and the center against some metal and it would not come out. Btw, it was an authentic 10 pack of these clips.

Thanks upgraded the outdated style from my gs300. These type work better.
