Love watching new grip being fitted , very satisfying 🇬🇧😂

It really is, isn't it? And it's even better riding a freshly gripped deck, no matter how old, it feels new again!

I used to use a hammer and small flat head screwdriver to get the rivets out. I also used a metal file to remove the overlapping grip tape from the edge of the board. Great vid!

Thank you for the tips, really appreciate it! I'll try the hammer and screwdriver trick

Thanks for the vid. I think your perfect circle plastic lid idea is missing the point of getting the right angle but the rest of this is pretty darn helpful. I thought I was the only old punk rock skater dude who has a toy (dolls) poodle on my lap half the damn time. And now, back to the studio...

Hahaha - wow, there's more than one of us with a tiny dog glued to us??? Glad you liked it and thank you for your input. What have you done to cut out grip to fit around a design? Always looking for ways to improve! Thanks

Thank you! Appreciate the support. Do you think I should try and take off the stickers or leave it as-is?
@plasticshowdiver91573 жыл бұрын
@@GeezerSkateCo well I would probably take them off and put new ones on, try doing etsy or red bubble for the same stickers and if you can't find then I suggest doing a sword and skull vynil sticker over the original one
@ragnarsilverboard68033 жыл бұрын
@@GeezerSkateCo I'd like to see you get the stickers off. The grip tape went so well and while the stickers are relevant to the era they're not skate stickers. And that graphic is one of the best ever. But that's it, after that it's perfect.

I don’t understand why Powell doesn’t still make that grip tape with the oval die cut already done, all the new reissue boards have the dragon
@GeezerSkateCo3 жыл бұрын
They used to provide the grip tape already cut out for the dragon??? That would make life so much easier! We should petition Powell to bring that back for their reissues!
@bassadelica3 жыл бұрын
@@GeezerSkateCo yeah throughout the 80’s Powell grip was pre cut with the 2 sections. What they offer now is a full sheet with the dragon screened onto the tape, but I think it looks sort of lame
@GeezerSkateCo3 жыл бұрын
@@bassadelica - Good to know. I haven't seen that myself, but it doesn't sound as iconic as the oval cut out. Wish they had kept it all original for the nostalgia.

Y can’t u cover the revet with grip tape
@GeezerSkateCo3 жыл бұрын
The reason I didn’t want to cover the rivets is because of the cool look that it had before. I’m also worried that the grip might peel up because it’s not completely flat on the board
@joshualopez22473 жыл бұрын
@@GeezerSkateCo oh ok thank you
@StephanieNP3 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you just put a clear grip tape on?
@GeezerSkateCo3 жыл бұрын
Good question! I think mainly I was trying to recreate the old school look with the cutout to reveal the Powell dragon, but clear would have been cool to show the art as well as the weathering of the deck
