You appear to have a slightly different carburetor. I'm in USA with a 2006 S model. The first wire you unplugged is either non existent or in a different place on my carb. In any case this was still very helpful so thank you!

Thank you. Your camera shots are so much better than the other videos about this on KZbin. Cheers.

Thanks for all the videos man, I bought a 2008 SM for $2700, since its winter I'm taking everything apart and replacing or redoing mostly everything, thanks for the insight.

if you remove the top subframe bolt, and loosen the lower subframe nuts, (with the bike on a stand or jack) you can push the subframe back and that gives you more room for the carb to back out of the front and back boots.

This is a great video man. It shows exactly what i wanted and you didnt make it sound complicated at all. It was great how you showed taking the carb out of the bike, as most other videos i have seen skip that part.

Take the fuel line off and vac line then loosen the hose clamps for the boot and turn the carb . Never took mine out did it in about an hour

Nice and concise. I have fuel draining out of the black hose, assuming it's a float or needle drama. Thanks for the tips (on pulling the rear airbox hose clear out of the way ) very helpful.

Amazing how different it was taking off and jetting my 2020 drz400sm carb. Much less wires and hoses. Guess this bike has had more changes over the years than people realize.

If anyone's reading this: There's no need to take the tank off, or any of the side panels. Undo the throttle cable, unplug the TPS. disconnect fuel line, and take the clamps off the rubber gasket/boot. then take something like handle of a large wrench(spanner) as a prybar between the frame and the rear boot. Then you just wiggle the carb out. Takes about 3-5min. Use some spit on the inside of the boot to lube it going back on.

My pilot jet is plugged, so i can idle at full choke but dies with choke closed... seems to happen to every DRZ eventually. I even winterized the fuel properly. I read somewhere if all you need is to clean the jets, you can just loosen the jubilee clips and then rotate the carb 90 degrees over to access the bottom without actually removing it. Anyone ever try this?

Awesome video! first time opening my DRZ 400s carb and felt comfortable . I'm also installing the Yamaha rapor pet cock since mine is leaking. The stock ones are shitty.

@homeydawg24314 жыл бұрын
Completely true. I removed the thru bolt securing the rear subframe to the frame near seat/fuel tank mount on top member, then loosened the two bolts at the bottom of the subframe to allow it to pivot back a couple of inches. This completely simplified removing the airbox snorkel from the carb mouth. Also suggest loosening wire ties on upper sections to facilitate this. All the bolts i mention are 12mm hex.

I find this very interesting to watch. However I'm afraid I won't be able to piece it all back together if I try this myself.
@ronanrogers41274 жыл бұрын
It’s not hard. It’s actually easier if you pivot the subframe up, which can be done by removing the bolts on each side down near the footpeg S, and loosening the subframe bolts at the top. Pivoting this up a bit and out of the way makes it much easier to move the airbox back from the carburettor. Much easier to put it back in too
