A dremel is a handy little tool that can save parts with precision use, a neat repair.

A couple real notes about Staybrite 8. I use it often for repairs in commercial refrigeration. First I have seen it get soft and a tube can actually blow out when used on a discharge line. Dirty systems cause high head pressure and high compressor discharge temperatures. I don’t recommend it for compressor discharge lines or any other controls in the discharge line like oil separators, hot gas bypass valves, reverse cycle valves etc… Also check local code because some places do not allow any kind of soft solder on refrigeration lines. They claim it violates fire safety codes because it can melt and blow out refrigerant and oil causing phosgene gas poisoning to first responders and anyone else around. I think it’s more about keeping your average Joe from doing HVAC work with nothing but a simple propane or MAPP gas torch, but that’s a different topic.

@@kevinhaley6776 what parts were saved,none! In this case,you removed a failed fitting to prove it could be done. And the fix was to add a fitting that is either brazed,or soldered!

Ok you clearly don’t know what you are talking about. IF AND WHEN one of my press fittings fails, that is crimped to a service valve, I will demonstrate how to do this in the field. But one hasn’t yet, so I wanted to demonstrate how to do this on a free piece of pipe. If you didn’t find it helpful then why did you even watch it? 🤷🏻‍♂️ thanks for making me some dough in Adsense money though 👊🏼

@@diyhvacguy this is real life jackass,I have been a top service tech for years.I work on everyrhing fron 1,000 ton chillers,large steam boilers,and everthing in between.You fools are taking the proven craft out of the craft itself.I have spent years going to school and training to keep up with technology,some I like and some I dont. I have worked with many over the years that love this easy ,no skill technology.The reason why,it requires no real skill and its easy! Im not saying this stuff has no place at all,nor do I think the old way is wrong nowadays.I just think in a craft that requires alot of skill and alot of training,they need to stop catering to the people that refuse to want to learn and maybe work a little! I tried mega press on a gas line that I installed,I wasnt really impressed,give me my rigid 300 with auto dies and I will get it done as quick. I have giys that use $300 in fitting to install a $150 point of use water heater.Again,im not totally saying its shit and it has a place,but im not a believer that its better,its just easier!

Looks easy on a work bench..doing in ground level in tight spaces is a different story..try to shoot another video on a ceiling or ground level work..if your getting paid to work, cut all of them leaking pro-press and service valves and install new ones

Solder is for water/plumbing. Silver brazing is reliable for higher pressures, vibration, etc. Don't use solder on HVAC with 200psi, comoressor heat and vibration, etc. Uae brazing. I use pure silver so it is pretty universal. Al little pricey, but no fail on home appliances (refrigerators).

I have several videos showing the proper method for soldering, brazing, and crimping. This isn’t the only way to do it, but people said they’re impossible to get off if they leak and they are wrong.

Does this change your thoughts on crimping??
@diyhvacguy
@diyhvacguy Жыл бұрын
My thoughts? Yes, people say you have to cut them off completely but that’s not true. So there is option b if for whatever reason the crimp ever starts leaking

Nope. Not for HVAC or pros or.... just no. Nice experiment, but not for a pro. Turbulent water through deformed pipes will eventually leak., even if you get it done. Also... that's too slow. Just do it right. It'll save you money in the long run. Thanks for the video though! Good discussions! I hope you take the hit and leave it up. Maybe add a disclaimer and admit you were wrong. 😂 Sorry kid. Not your day on this one but I still appreciate it! ❤

Ummmm, this is for refrigerant not “turbulent water” lol and the new refrigerants are flammable so pretty soon this will be the only way. This train is leaving with or without you ✌🏼
