Excellent information. I appreciate you and the team showing the procedures. I'm kind of curious why you didn't do the "Harpoon" mod on the tank prior to installation. I'm going to your channel now to look for the front tank procedure.

Harpoon mod? Front tank video pending
@3rdcoastobs467 Жыл бұрын
I replaced my front tank and pulled and cleaned my rear and upgraded fuel pumps/sending units to 255lph units on both (1993 lightning). The front wasnt bad with no transmission in...that rear tank had me contemplating selling the damn truck. The filler neck was the biggest pain to reattach...after everything was said and done id forgot the locking pieces on the fuel line to sending unit. Oh well, im not doing this job again 😂

It’s a job. But doable. The kicker for us was unclipping the hard fuel lines from the frame rail. It gave us the extra room to stretch them over the crossmember. Those safety locks have been long gone on most peoples fuel filters.

Would it be easier (or possible) to install the tank with the fill tube connected to the tank? I’m not going to have a second pair of hands to do mine!

I don’t think so due to the rigid portion of filler tube

Any reason you decided to do another steel tank instead of poly? Would it be worth it to get the new fuel lines from bronco graveyard and hook them up first before putting the tank back up?

These fuel lines were in great shape. If yours are compromised- by all means replace. The tanks are galvanized and painted. I’m sure it will last another 26 years or more. Now that it’s a “classic” truck- it will have better preventative maintenance. We considered painting the tank with Bedliner- but I prefer the Oem look.

Does it not make sense to attach the filler pipe to the tank first before installing?
@BroncosandPartsGarage Жыл бұрын
You want to make sure it’s “clocked” right so you don’t twist it when I installing. I’ve twisted them slightly and the breather tube within the full hose was bound and tank wouldn’t fill barely.
