What I really loved about your video is that you are not claiming any magic results. It all depends on individual mike and situation and how we can make these adjustments to improve the audio quality. You are also flexible in terms of people doing experiment themselves and that's a good strategy in my opinion. You have quality content and I'm sure it will grow over a period of time.

Your videos are a gold mine of information when it comes to Davinci Resolve. I'm often recording in my den at home and with the mic I'm using (Blue Snowball non ice) the noise reduction effect is my go to. Usually the only sound I hear is the laptop fan and the only knob I tweak is the threshold which reduces the noise but doesn't eliminate it. Often the best time at least for me to record my narration is at night, so the only sound I can hear is the laptop fan. Car noises I'll have to live with until I can get a recording booth built. I did play with a gate a bit, but the audio for very choppy and needed some tweaking. My favorite is the noise reduction effect

It would be really nice if instead of telling us to "tweak it", telling us what each individual dial does to the audio (ie this knob lowers the high pitch vs low pitch, this know is great for buzzing sounds, this is better for vocals). I clicked on this video to understand what these things do, not just to try random things until they work. Since you gave the advice that some times it works better than others, it would be great to know what these things do so we can start with the thing best suited to fix our particular audio problem. I was already just randomly attacking sound issues by mashing buttons. It is like telling a beginning saxophone player to just move your fingers until the right note comes out. Not really learning the sax by doing that. One part in particular was annoying where you said you wouldn't spend time telling us what these knobs do, after spending two minutes of introducing us to what the video would talk about before getting into instruction. Cut down on the intro stuff and put the two minutes into what each of those knobs do and when to use them... that's why a lot of us came to the video to begin with... we need information on the program controls. I understand you can't tell people every problem they are dealing with and audio problems vary and I appreciate your putting the video up at all, but in my opinion the video wasn't all that helpful in learning how to use these tools (or when to use them outside of your particular fan situation). Also on my MacKeyboard the forward slash is on a non-numbered button & the looping isn't working... I'm sure that's something i'll figure out but that loop key trick doesn't work for some standard keyboards for some reason. Thanks for trying. I'm gonna have to look elsewhere though.

Of course, you do a great job with these tutorials. I honestly haven’t had very good luck with noise reduction in Resolve. I’ve tried the methods you highlight here with mixed success. What I’ve had really good success with... I run separate audio using a TASCAM DR-07X recorder. I’ll run that stand alone audio track through a couple of passes of the noise reduction effect in Audacity. That seems to work very well without adding any abnormal artifacts like you mentioned (the things you can’t describe). I was trying to process all audio in Audacity but the Compressor and EQ in Fairlight is a lot more user friendly. On my next video I plan to do the noise reduction in Audacity and use Resolve for everything else. Also have a bad habit of tracking video in OBS using my Blue Yeti and having noise gates and compressors and EQ n the chain during recording which makes post very difficult. I need to have a checklist or something to keep me from shooting myself in the foot all the time. Hah. Sorry for the long post, it may help some folks that aren’t happy with the noise reduction in resolve if they have heavy background noise. That Audacity noise reduction effect is excellent for a free tool. Thanks for making these videos! They’ve been very helpful!

Hello jason! How do I go about adding a little more bass into my voice? I have noticed that my Rode PodMic XLR into my CanonM50 makes it sound tinny, metallic sounding, and takes away my bass. How would i add back the bass from my voice? Thanks :)
@JasonYadlovski3 жыл бұрын
Hi! If you want to add some bass back, you want to use the EQ to do that. You're going to want to boost the frequencies that are somewhere between 150hz and say about 350hz. Kind of depends on the mic and your voice. I've got a video all about EQ if you are interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4PWYouIhrifd68 Basically you will want to take the Point #2, give it a low Q factor, then just drag the point to about +5 db and then sweep the point back and forth to see where the bass sound that you like is. In the same way, you can grab say point #4 or #5, give it a high Q factor, boost it way up, then you can sweep it around the higher frequencies to find that 'metallic' sound you're talking about. When you find it, drop the frequency gain down below 0 and it will remove that noise. I'd look in the 1K to 2.5K range for that. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

Good video on an important topic, a basic topic I may say. :) I have my fair bit of experience with audio dynamics and I find this video pleasantly interesting and relaxing. :) Thanks.

thank you, now time to find how to get rid of echo :D I have a good mic with a terrible audio interface

You're welcome! What kind of audio interface are you using? I'm currently working on upgrading my mic setup from my yet to a boom mic setup. I'm going to try the Audient EVO 4 USB Audio Interface. I'm curious to see how it does....

Awesome! Glad to hear my channel helps you. 😁 that’s a pain with the cars. Best thing you can do is set the mic sensitivity (gain if it has it) low and be close to the mic. Or try and record during low traffic hours. Best of luck and thanks for watching! 👍

1:15 I wonder why we don't have tools for this yet. Fourier transforms can absolutely do this with 2 audio sources. You ought to be able to set the stereo mode on the yeti and let the Fourier transforms eliminate everything that's not that and combine the stereo - it will be basically magic - mathmagic.
@JasonYadlovski Жыл бұрын
You actually can do that now using the Voice Isolation feature in the Studio version. 😜

@@JasonYadlovski nice. I had a feeling that this would be a shoein for the studio suite based on its other advanced math and machine learning offerings.

Hi! Have you tried scrolling your middle mouse we are in the area below the EQ in the mixer, in the fair light tab? Sometimes it’s a little tricky especially on smaller screens.

Great tips! But it seems that a Noise Reduction plug-in could be a good idea. Try to copy some of that noise and invert the wave (flip vertical) and play it at the very same timeline point.

Thank you for the information, it proved very useful in my case. I have a question regarding two aspects I have seen in your video: the first is at 06:00 when you want to focus on a certain area of the screen and you do it by using a red circle and making the rest of the screen darker and the second is at 11:47 when you again focus on a portion of the screen and you take it out and make it larger. Are those two effects done using Da Vinci Resolve? And if so, which are those? Alternatively, what program have you used? Thank you!
@JasonYadlovski3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for checking out the video! The effect you were referring to is done in a program called Screenflow for Mac. It is the software I use to record my screen I my tutorials. If you’re on the Mac I think it’s a great screen recording software.

how can you edit an ASMR video with so many noisy background?
@JasonYadlovski3 жыл бұрын
You need to find a quite place or add some sound proofing. Record in a closet or maybe throw up some blankets up or something. That’s really the best way to do it, gotta find a good environment and have a good recording set up. 😁👍

🤣 speech mode in noise reduction works really fantastic.mostly every time it works (but I don’t know why manual doesn’t work that good)
@JasonYadlovski2 жыл бұрын
That's great that Auto Speech mode works! I haven't had much luck with it usually. When you are in manual, you have to go to a section of the clip that has only what you want to remove, then click Learn, then play the clip for a few seconds. Then it should work for you and have the info it needs once you stop the playback.
@Rahulsingh-theraha2 жыл бұрын
@@JasonYadlovski yeah I did same in manual ,but there was not that much change in noise🙁
@ajspice2 жыл бұрын
This is one of those features that's not there yet for me. Even with the lightest touch of the settings, I lose a ton of fidelity in the vocals. I find myself exporting HQ audio tracks and running them through Audition, then reimporting the bounced track. Plus, this feature is NOT compound clip friendly in my experience.
@JasonYadlovski2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 💯. The noise reduction can be improved a lot I think.
