Mel! My craie Birkin had colour transfer too! I was wearing a denim jean and I purposely hold my Birkin a lot higher than I used to hold. I thought that I hold my bag high enough not to reach my jean, but it already had a slight colour transfer.😥 Fortunately mine was really slightly transferred (even slighter than your mini Lou), but I was so frustrated and I rushed to one of my local leather repair shop and he told me that all I had to do was just gently press the damp towel to the area. Mine fortunately came out but what he was saying was that with grained leather as say togo or clemence, the colour transfer might go in to the gap of the grains or the veins, therefore it’s harder to repair by your own. My birkin was also in togo leather but the colour transfer really didn’t go inside the veins so I was so lucky. 👍

It's safest to use a white microfiber cloth. I've had a bad experience in the past when the actual cloth stained my bag :(

The key to recovering the colour transfer/stain situation is RAPID response! So having an eagle eye over what's going on is essential. This is why the removal worked. The worst combination I can think of is biro stains on patent leather, or vachetta leather that have been left to set in. For years. Why do people imagine it's not a problem in the resale market? It is! Steer well clear! No amount of rubbing, chemicals or whatever will shift these problems. So act early...exactly what Mel is doing. That's how you preserve your bags and keep the bag as an asset. Mel perhaps a prevention tutorial in why you should stuff your bags, use inserts, separate them from others, use dust bags, store bags out of the direct sun etc may be timely for relative newbies or those not realising the problems that can arise. But mainly, keep an inventory of the bag before you hang it up after use. It's easy to overlook problems but rapid response is the issue. Same with water stains, just wipe them down rapidly.

Nice tips for cleaning a bag I always use soap and water because I did not know when you put liquid stuff on the bags it gets worse now I know that it doesn't messed the bag up and still have its value. This is the reason I prefer not to own a light colored bag unless it's one that is extremely affordable for me. THIS is one of the reasons I love your videos Mel, GREAT INFO you share! For Non hermes bags, usually I will either spray a protective coat to my bags when it is brand new. else I will do a color protection coating professionally. I only wear very old denim and I always check for color transfer diligently. if u clean away color transfer immediately, your bag will be saved. if u wait months, good luck. Unfortunately I am a bag slave.
