It really works!!! My hair is super thin and it didn’t break at all, it did get a little dry but using a good quality mask is going to take it to it’s normal. I have to say that prior to trying this my hair was healthy and I haven’t bleached it for over 6 months. I left the mixture on my hair for 2 hours, it washed the black off of it and now the shade is like a light brown color, it’s brassy but it was expected and I’m going to dye the color I want it to be so it’s ok. I wish I could post the before and after pictures here.

When I did head and shoulders and vitamin c I used an effervescent vitamin c which gave a great texture to the compound. I then bent over my bathtub, brushed all of my hair down from the roots, and appliedit from the bowl sitting in the bottom of the bathtub. I don't understand why all these young ladies go through so much effort to apply it with the flat brush. I guess it's for the screenshots, but leaning over the bathtub was 100 times easier.

what color did it end up being? like a pastel?
@Ebert.nevaeh3 жыл бұрын
this worked because developer is made of hydrogen peroxide which opens the hair cuticle and lightly strips color. the purple shampoo is added because purple cancels out yellow but in this case with black box dye ur undertones are gonna be orange so youd want blue, but honestly without a toner first the shampoo doesnt really help or do much. then the baking soda and dish soap are kinda pointless. if anybodys wanting to do this u can just use normal developer, the higher the developer the more it'll lift, but also just know developer wont ever be as effective as bleach but its also a lot less damaging :)

Ok, I tried this on my hair twice. I had bleach blonde hair and then went darker months ago. Anyway I've been trying different methods with no results for ages until, 1st time I tried this method: It didn't do much, I don't know if I didn't use enough baking soda or what, but it didn't do much. 2nd time I tweaked this method: I used more baking soda, and I used 20 VOL (Blondeme brand) instead of 10 vol, I wrapped my head in glad wrap and I also only left it on for about 45 minutes (I was impatient lol) AND IT WORKED SO WELL, my dark brown hair is now like a very very very light brown, looks like a lighter shade of dark blonde in the sun, best example would be Cara Delevingne's natural hair colour I guess. I'M SO HAPPY WITH IT, THANKYOU FOR POSTING THIS VID!

After reviewing your video I couldn’t wait to try this. Thank you so much! I hate bleach. My hair was black. I used a dye to lighten it but my hair didn’t get light enough, it went from black to dark brown. To get my hair light brown I sprayed my hair with lemon juice. I mixed the baking soda with 20vol and made it like a paste. I also added the purple shampoo. Covered my hair with a conditioning cap and my hair turn medium light brown within 30 mins. This does work on dark box dyed hair, however, it will make your fall out some if you do it for 30 minutes and up. It makes your hair very dry, so sleeping with an olive oil mask on will help put the moisture back in your hair. It also makes the black turn into a lighter red-brown, which blue shampoo can help tone down. It does also come out splotchy if you don’t not saturate the entire head!!

Ok, I tried this myself and it worked, although I think I’m gonna try a second time to strip more color off. I had virgin hair and dyed it black with a DEMI permanent dye. I hated it to say the least. I tried the most famous vitamin c and anti dandruff shampoo (I used head and shoulders, the green apple scented one ) and I just think it gave my hair reddish tones which I hate so much. Hair was still super dark and I even burned my upper eyelids. I tried this and left it for an hour, I distributed the mixture in small sections trying not to touch my roots, regardless they came out lighter but thankfully doesn’t bother me as I parted my hair how I usually have it before applying the mixture and so was able not to ruin that area. So be careful when you try this. It removed the black a little, maybe if I left it longer than an hour, which I think it’s already a lot, it would have lifted more color? I don’t know I was pretty scared. I still have the reddish tones but at least now it’s brown and not black. I’ll try again and hope to lighten it even more.

If I used purple conditioner would it be the same ?
@anopinion34693 жыл бұрын
Cindy! When you bleach, you always tone! it was orange/brassy, it just needed a toner with a blue base. Of you bleach more, it needs a purple toner to cancel out yellow tones.

The purple shampoo is just to tone your hair. I’m not an expert by the way, just been dyeing my hair for 20 plus years and of Asian decent. MANY of us have warm tone(s) in our hair. For example, when I look at my natural hair (medium brown?) in the sun light, you can see red! Hence the warm tone. When you dye/bleach warm brown hair it’ll slowly lift to an orange/brass color, keep going and the next color is yellow. Thats if you have warm brown hair. The purple shampoo doesn’t lift any color. I believe the baking soda AND peroxide are for lifting/lightening. Hope this helps 😁 P.S. I don’t know if people with ash brown hair even need toner.

I'm looking to try this. So when natural hair comes out darker in the rooms than my dyed hair. Not much of a big difference though. Anyway, I have greys and want to stop dying my hair so I'm wanting to expose my greys all throughout but not sure if it'll work. Everyone on here seems to have dark hair and wants to go lighter. I feel like I'm going reserved. Not much of a different like I said,..... do you think it'll work?

I wanna say to everyone talking about how damaging the dish soap and the baking soda is.... I've bleached my hair many many times, right now I've currently had my hair box black died for months and months...I literally just left on baking soda and dish soap(A TONN) in my hair for 40 minutes, it didnt lighten at all lol but it definitely did not do any damage. My hair feels the same. Js🤷♀️

If you would of wrapped your head up tight so the heat form your scalp would of helped fit lift all them dark spots better. Always wrap the hair so it doesn't dry or it won't dye or lift at.

I want to bleach my whole head again, but I have rests of black hair dye that will always let my hair stained after the bleach sections. :( Edit: just watched the whole video and it worked so well! Thinking about trying it out.

Does it have to be Baking Powder or Bicarbonate of Soda? I tried with Baking Soda and the mixture started rising like a cake 😂

You’ll want to use baking SODA, also known as Sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda. These 3 names are all the same product .

Can I apply that mixture on highlighted hair without discoloring my natural hair? I have virgin black hair with blonde highlights that were dyed pink. I don't want to ruin my natural black hair but Im desperate to remove the pink highlights I've had for 4 months. I've tried dandruff shampoo and it helps a bit but now it doesn't bleed anymore.

It takes longer but if you have new root growth get some help and do it in small sections starting from the bottom/ back of your head up…do a section and then wash/ rinse it out and work up so you avoid more of your roots…then throw on a mask once it’s all done
@Renata-vu4jb3 жыл бұрын
Does this method light up new root growth as well? I’ve dyed my hair black twice since last year and I’ve wanted to get rid of it for a few months at this point. I decided to grow my hair and get the black dye out without any chemicals but now i have like 3 cm root growth and it looks very bad considering that my natural hair is light brown
