That stand up cutter is awesome One of my favorite tools for glue down removal. Don't have the fancy gripper usually just cut slits in the carpet and put our hand in there.

Thanks for the reply I am from the UK and we do things different over this side of the world I use hook blade in a dolphin knife to cut stuck down carpets it takes no time been doing it this way the last 30 years don't know if you have tried it but it's worked for me !! You are giving great tutorials on here for the up and coming fitters of the future well done for that !! I would love to come over and work with you for a week just to see how different we both do things would be fun .

I use a hook blade too here in the states. Never used a stand up cutter but it may be useful for not wearing you out so quick in the day and reducing back strain. My partner also owns a Wolff turbo floor stripper for really aggressive adhesives. Not a fan of the dolphins, they're a little too bulky for me. I use the orcon utility knife for my hooks.

German Montero I have never tried it but I’m sure that it would because the point on it is really nice and sharp so I would imagine it would go right under the vinyl

Yeah those stand up floor cutters are nice. I hate when my razor blade knife sometimes gets dull from the floor or just sometimes hitting a nail or metal, then it doesn’t cut through it all the way.

carpet guy 1970 That’s awesome I hope you enjoy them, remember the points are replaceable after they wear so much you need to replace the point, they are less than 10 bucks, you can usually get a few hundred yards of carpet Out of one point depending on how bad it stuck

Never seen that stand up cutter or grabber before. The old knife cut and fingertip grab technique was the way I've done it , and swore I'd never do it again haha . Might pick up one of those grabbers , would it work for vinyls too? Do the teeth grab tightly together ?

You can rent a buffer machine and a scrape away head for the buffer. The carbide blades will eat right through the glue removing it easily

No. the church wants to have the concrete and seal it. They just show it to me today. We are in Cary NC, i do volunteer to help. They told me they are wiling to hire a contractor. I just want to see if I can help the church save money. I do strip floors but hate dealing with glue and paints.

Well done! carpet is just disgusting, really...hard floors [floorboards] or engineered laminate wood flooring and small rugs that can be washed or' beaten' are much better. I have a 22 foot long room to remove a 1980's foam backed carpet from victorian pine floorboards...yuck. Done it before, and it really is a horrid job. {UK}
