How to Remove & Install a Pre-hung Exterior Door. Exterior door installation can appear difficult but if you follow a few important steps and are a little handy, you can do this project yourself.
Removal of the old door, door trim, door jambs and threshold (sill) is not difficult. Understanding how they are installed will make this step much easier and I will show you how to do it.
Installing a new prehung exterior door can be a challenge if you don't understand the need to keep everything square, level and plumb.
In this video I will show you the tips and tricks I use to install a new pre-hung exterior door and the trim around the door for a clean finished project.
This project involved removal & installation of the door with a brick exterior wall. This instructional video will also apply to installations with other types of exterior siding applications including vinyl siding, Hardie siding, cedar shake siding and others.
Whether it is your front door, storage room door, garage entry door or the back door of your home, you will learn the important steps to take to make your exterior door replacement project a success.

That door is made to be an outswing door and they have solid hinge pins in other words you cannot remove them for the very reason you asked about

Unable to buy an outswing door at Home Depot or Lowe's. Outswing door cost a premium and had to be custom ordered even though a standard size of 36" X 80".

I just had a French door replaced and the threshold was about 2 inches shorter than the old one. The tried to fill it in with mortar AFTER installing the door because there was a big gap between the foundation and brick. I’m so frustrated. He says it’s fine but I don’t agree. It’s my back entry door. I sure wish I had someone like you around. Thanks for the video. It’s taught me a rough lesson. I think they just thought taking advantage of an older woman is ok

$400 is pretty high priced for labor. Labor is about 4 hours. $200 seems fair IMO.
