The hardest part is finding the strings…they’re usually coiled around the cervix. My mirena was out in 60 seconds…lit was just ike pulling out a tampon - no pain! 😅👍 I didn’t lay down - I squatted which helped me grasp the strings better. And I’m post menopausal so I wasn’t on my period ( I used the iud as the progestin component of HRT). I really appreciate the video and everyone’s comments. I wouldn’t have had the courage to remove my iud without it! ❤🙏

I watched this and another video on removal. It took me 10 mins because I kept on taking breaks and being frustrated because I didn't know what I was doing. I sat my butt on a pillow and squatted in a frog position. I used my pointing finger and started guiding the strings down and straight as much as possible. Then inserted both my thumb and pointing finger. It's hard to get a grip on the strings but I kept pulling and maybe after 4 good pulls it slipped out extremely easily. I did what she said in the video and pulled fast. No pain or cramping. Don't quit cause it first I thought my strings wasnt long enough to grip it but you really dont need to get a firm grip just enough to grap the tip of the string. I had on fake nails which also made it harder to grip. The strings felt longer inside but are actually pretty short. I had to take it out. I had extreme lower back pain to the point I couldn't sit or walk, hair loss, depression out of no where, extreme fatigue and brain fog. Immediately after pulling it out I felt relief.

I was very scared because I didn’t know what to expect and didn’t want to hurt myself, but this really gives me the courage and strength to do it myself. I’ve had my copper IUD for 8 years now and have been with my fiancé for 3 years, I’m really ready to try for a baby but currently don’t have insurance as I plan on getting married soon and getting on my fiancé’s plan. Thank you so much. I'm over my 5 year mark and make more than the threshold for medicaid and not enough to afford cash or insurance. I was getting worried about infection. Took 2 mins as I have a cervix pointed toward my back so it took a little maneuvering to get into a comfortable and solid position. Initial slight cramping but I'm so happy it's out and didnt cost me the 875 I was quoted.

hey guys!! i wanted to share my experience with you in depth for anyone who is nervous READ THIS!!!!! i was really anxious to remove mine, i was scared for it being painful or breaking, whatever, its important to keep in mind that the doctors do the same thing you are going to do yourself, its going to feel like same either way.. FINDING STRINGS: most of the time they do not lay stright in your vagina, they usually curl around your cervix, if youre comfortable with your vagina you can put whatever finger feels best and feel around your cervix for strings and try to unravel them. if youre strings are too short then removing yourself may not be the best option because you cant get a good grip on them. PULLING STRINGS: once you have found your string and somewhat unraveled them where you can get a grip, try to do this on your period, your cervix opens and often lowers so you have easier access, sit in a position that gives you easiest access to your cervix and strings (this will be different depending on your body) usually, the easiest way to get ahold of strings is with your index finger and middle finger, kind of pinch the string and pull slowly. Once you have the strings to a point where you can grab them with your thumb and index finger it should be much easier to pull the IUD out rest of the way, i wouldnt recommended yanking it out fast because it can cause tugging on cervix, i went really slow and you will feel a release once its past your cervix. PAIN: For me, i watched other videos and knew i would feel some cramping while doing it, i was extremely nervous and was shaking, which all made me scared and freaked out. You will possibly have a cramping sensation that might freak you out a little bit, i almost thought i was going to faint just due to fact that i was so nervous. These cramps are OK to feel, dont freak yourself out, keep breathing, literally say out loud "breathe" while pulling slowly. its very similar cramps to period cramps, but not exactly the same and they are light cramps while pulling. a huge part of the pain is just from you freaking yourself out. make sure you have someone with you while doing this, they dont need to be in the room but just incase you do faint you need someone there ****DO NOT PULL IT HALFWAY OUT AND THEN CHICKEN OUT**** Remember it gets easier the more you pull, if you stop halfway this can cause more problems, it gets much much easier the more it comes out, so dont get freaked out and want to stop bc the hardest part if starting to pull is already over!!!!! i hoped this helped someone!!! My iud is out! Also i believe my Copper IUD gave me an ovarian cyst that caused me major pain, due to covid they woudlnt do anything about it, the iud also gave me wayyyy more discharge where i had to wear pads on my underwear not even during my period. if anyone else has developed cysts since getting copper iud inserted comment and let me know!!!

Thank you very much for the tweezer idea. I went and bought some 10' round tip tweezer tongs and took my time. I pulled slowly first, then stopped to make sure I wasn't damaging myself. Then I used my fingers to pull down more....I was so shocked once I grabbed hold of the strings again with the tweezers, I inhaled and pulled and exhaled. I was so shocked, no blood, no mucus, no pain. I will monitor for a few days. WHAT A RELIEF!

Thank you so so much! I live in UK and these are free here. We are very lucky. I know. But I had the mirena coil fitted over 2 months ago and since then I had the worse pain in my breasts. I stopped going to the gym because it was too painful to run or even move. So I asked my doctor to get it removed and they advised me to keep it for a bit longer hoping the pain will go away. They said come back in 6 weeks. I tried but it feels like the pain gets worse. So I called 2 weeks later telling them I don’t want to wait any more I want it out now. They said they will let me know when then can do it. Still waiting for a call back a week later. It looks like they are taking their time on purpose. That’s why I looked up if I can do it myself and I found your video! I did it in less than a minute. It was completely painless. Not a single cramp. Thank you so so much!

Thank you so much for your guidance on this, I am truly grateful. It took me only seconds to remove my iud, once I’d located the string, with no pain aside from some mild to moderate cramping for a few moments afterwards. My body wanted to be in a squatting position for this which made it a lot easier to do myself as opposed to lying down. I also did this on the second day of my cycle while my period was at its most heavy.

Thank you!!! My IUD is out! I unsuccessfully attempted before watching this. The pillow helped. I was able to feel the strings, but each time I tried to pull… nothing. So I carefully guided the tweezers down my 2 fingers that had found the string, grasped string with tweezers, and as I pulled with those, I felt a mild to moderate cramp. I kept slowly pulling and finally! Relief!

@@carlyk9634 Oh no! If you’re feeling any pain please stop and see a dr, babe! If you’re not feeling sore, try this: try again when you’re on the last day of your cycle. That’s when your cervix is the “lowest”. I also took an ibuprofen about 30 minutes before I tried. I did the frog squat position over a towel. Find the string, try to wrap it around your finger (it helps if your nails are super short). Imagine you have a golf ball in there and push down like your trying to pop it out at the same time you’re pulling 😅 I took a deep ass breath and once I made up my mind I just pulled! You’ll feel a little resistance for few seconds. And it’s normal to spot afterwards - I spotted for a couple hours.

Ok so this is my second comment. IT WAS SOOOOOOOO EASYYY! I was petrified, absolutely terrified, to do it myself. But I used one gloves hand and one non-gloved hand for extra support. I tugged it down as far as I could with the gloved hand (the only way I could get a grip was with a glove, wanted to use bare hands) once it was pulled down far enough, I reached up with two fingers from BOTH HANDS and pulled. BARELY HURT AT ALL. I was standing up and squatted my weight down with one leg elevated like I'm putting in a tampon Stay safe, ladies, and keep a phone right next to you in case something goes wrong and you begin to heavily bleed.

Ohhhhh wow THANK YOU soooo much for this video... and for reminding us of how amazing our bodies are and how amazing we are to be able to do this!!!!!! I'm 38 and my fiance and I have decided its time for a baby. I live in the UK so healthcare is free. However, I've tried making an appointment with my own doctor surgery as well as through the free sexual health clinic to get this thing out. No luck. They say it's not a priority. Erm yes it is. Like I said, I'm 38, this copper IUD has been in for 8 years. I've never felt so ready! Anyway, decided I'm not paying £200+ to go private to have this thing removed when it takes seconds, did some googling/youtubing and came across this video. Coincidently, I'm on my 2nd day of my period, and after reading some of the comments I thought this is the perfect time. The thing came out sooooooo easy!!!! OMG I'm still amazed at how effortlessly it slid out. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! ❤✨

Just pulled mine out too after watching this video! It was so simple…well my boyfriend did it and it was painless! I recommend totally doing your own research before deciding to get an IUD. I was experiencing symptoms that I never have experienced before such as severe cramps, in which I never really had cramps with any of my cycles. Extreme fatigue in which damn near made it seem like I had depression because I would hardly ever get out of bed. And the symptom that was the cherry on top and was the straw that broke the camels back was I was experiencing hair loss. Hair loss is not a thing in my family nor is it genetic and my labs are all normal. However, I did notice the only thing that was different was that I got the Mirena IUD exactly month today and I have been having hair loss. Hair coming out in strands every time I run my fingers through my hair. I know hair sheds normally but this is excessive. So I did some research on mirena and come to find out alopecia is a side effect of Mirena IUD. But it’s hardly reported on and only 0.33% of women reported it who were in the trials in this specific IUD. Just do your research!!

I took mine out super easy. I was part of the 2-6% who experience expulsion so my IUD was already past the cervix. I only realized it was coming out when just by cleaning I could feel the strings so I decided to find a way to safely pull it out myself. Since mine was basically already out, it didn’t take much effort to pull (though I did use some tweezers for better grip) and it *didn’t hurt at all!* Thank goodness! I was afraid of pain the most. It’s a shame I had to remove it, I was lucky enough not to have experienced any pain or any of the typical side effects associated with a copper IUD. It was the dream scenario until it started falling out of place. Thank you for the video it really helped me get the courage to just pull it out myself avoiding having to pay a copayment to remove it at a doctor’s!! XD

I did it! Using the pillow made a huge difference. After I found the string and pulled. I felt a little tiny cramp and so I prepared myself for one big one before I pulled again. As I pulled I felt no pain as I realized the tiny little cramp that I barely felt was the iud coming out of my cervix. And the second pull was just it coming out of the vaginal canal. So I was so nervous for nothing.

i just removed mine myself. i had mine in about 6 months after having my baby. i recently decided it was time to get back into shape but the IUD would make me bleed and cramp up every time i worked out. i dont think it was ever in right.....i found one string, gave it a little pull...felt the iud move a bit then after one more tug it just slid right out...no blood...no pain....soooo easy.

There are several reasons for these symptoms: vital infections, such as EBV, Shingles, Herpes; dental work (root canals, amalgam feelings; and past immunizations (all vaccines contain mercury and aluminum that are poisonous for the human body)..

Hope you get better soon.....I had heavy legs, cramps, heavy legs, weight gain, bloating, pelvic area muscle spasms, fatigue, headaches and much more 1 year and a half after having my third IUD put in. Doctors kept saying it was not the IUD, but my body was telling me there was something wrong. I’m on day 8 after removal and my body is getting better day by day. I’m feeling normal again. I will never get a hormonal birth control again or even the copper IUD. I’m embracing and loving the natural me without things that damage my body. Our body’s have there own contraception I’m sticking to natural ovulation tracking now.

A copper T doesnt cost 90cents to make, it has to have purest of copper so there are no contaminants. It also has to go through rigorous quality control so they dont have any sharp edges, contamination or anything that could lead to complication. It must be completely sterile when it is packaged and leaves the factory.

Thank you so much for this video (and the supportive comments in the thread are so encouraging). I took mine out after watching your video just now. I feel immediate relief knowing this thing is out of my body. 2-3 seconds of cramping immediately after taking it out but otherwise I feel fine.

After watching many videos about people taking out their coils I decided to give mine a go, my period pain was so bad from it.. I would get random cramps that would make me bend over in pain. When I had the coil inserted i have never experienced pain like it! It was super painful for me.. then for about 2 month after I was in constant pain. So I got the courage to remove mine 2 days ago, firstly I couldnt find the strings which made me panic.. I got in the frog position and on my back.. still couldnt find them. In the end I got my husband to fish around there 😅. After a while he found them.. it took about 15 minutes to take it out. my strings were short so it was really difficult for him to grab and pull them out. Taking the coil out wasnt painful at all.. only thing that was uncomfortable was my husband trying to get it out ahah. Never again will I get a coil

I just removed mine with only a little discomfort. Worth it to stop the annoying side effects. I didn't want to visit my doctor's surgery while covid-19 is still rampant, so I'm glad it's out. The strings were about 2cms out anyway, so I think my body was ejecting it. Thanks for your advice!

Thanks!!! I tried last night but I couldn’t find the string I hope the doctor didn’t cut it to short so I won’t be able to do it my self maybe. Will try again tonight and hopefully I can be more relax. I have had the cooper in for a total of 16 years and now I am understanding the many signs my body was telling me. I’m having breathing issues not asthmatic, never smoked and nothing to do with this covid. Wow the things the doctors won’t tell you to make money it’s so sad. That’s way I’m really thinking about the covid shot but that another theme. Stay safe, and will be checking my blood for cooper a bit worry now.

I want to take mines out but I only had mine in for a year but the medical office always makes a big deal just to remove it. Like I have to come up with a good good reason. I hate that. I want mines out because it makes me depressed, anxious, some nights are restless. I had one years ago and suffered these same Symptoms. At the time I felt it was due to the IUD so I took it out. I got it put in again thinking it won’t happen again and that maybe something else caused that. But again having the IUD these symptoms are back. So I want to just take mine out and feel normal again but I’m kind of scared to do it my self.
