Wouldn't it be a good idea to back every bolt out one turn each all around the Jeep to start and then one or two turns each all around again so that the body doesn't tweak once a few bolts are fully removed and put force on the last bolt or two before they are loose? This is the technique I'm going to try when I do my body bolt mounted rock sliders next weekend. Kind of like a star pattern you'd use when doing a wheel or cylinder head bolts.

Great video. I’m thinking of purchasing my first Wrangler. Seller says she needs Shock Body Mount Replaced. What purpose does the Shock Body Mount serve? As a motorcycle guy, just not sure what this parts does or how safe the vehicle is with/without this repair done immediately.

Don't buy a JL if you want to keep it for long time, galvanic corrosion where the aluminum body bolts into the frame, just like in the doors but this one might kill you.

I had problem with bolts on my JLU talked to AJ followed instructions for backing bolts in and out and worked like a charm. It was a bit scary after reading horror stores on broken bolts. Thanks for the help.

I had to drill a hole in my JLU floor to get the rear drivers side out. The captive nut's little tabs snapped off. Pretty sure it was crossed threaded going in from factory. The others came out with minor resistance.

how did you drill out the floor who did that how much did it cost?

Galvanic corrosion at the frame mounts, steel vs aluminum. Will be an issue in all JLs.

@@miopera40 maybe, mine was brand new when it happened. I got rid of it not long after as other issues popped up I don’t remember. I have a Raptor now. Can’t take it on jeep trails as it’s too wide. But I fly down the trails it fits on.

@@awardsandspecialties3319 I did it with a hole just big enough to get long needle nose pliers in to hold the nut. Replace it with a lock nut and put a rubber plug over the hole and put the carpet down. Can’t tell it’s there unless you rip up the carpet.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason you didn't want to heat the bolt with a torch to liquidate the high strength red loctite the factory uses on these bolts?

We just have not found that necessary yet on any of the installs we have done. We have heard that some customers have used that approach however.

I can’t even budge mine with a 1/2” impact on high. One came out. The rest won’t budge.

Honestly, I kind of feel like this video was posted to say "not all bolts break".....it was LITERALLY a video where I watched a guy use a ratchet 3 or 4 times and all went fine. If you do even a cursory google search for "JL broken body bolt" you get tons of examples showing the actual problem happening. Yeah -- "take your time" and "turn a few turns out then back in , rinse and repeat" is correct.... But I feel like you guys are trying to sell something and you are trying to convince folks this isn't an issue.....it IS...plenty of folks experiencing broken bolts....many have taken the advice you give and they STILL break....so I think this video does a bit of a dis-service. Just saying.

Commenting because… my front passenger body bolt broke. I ended up welding the slider to the body mount frame tabs. I’m cutting a massive hole in the floor to get the bolt out in a few minutes. Fun times.

@@jamescantwell9172 For a temporary fix I use an anchor bolt in the mount that drops through from the top. I am going to try to remove the bolt this weekend with a torch and left handed drill bit / easy out. Ill let you know if it works.
