Does your multistrip work on acrylic mirrors? Most acrylic mirror sheets have a similar backing that is blue or grey. Removing these backings is essentially turning these into first surface mirrors! I've been using isopropyl to remove that backing, but it doesnt always work that well.
@AngelGildingcom11 күн бұрын
Hi, This is hard to say definitively. My instinct tells me that no, unfortunately will not work. However, we haven't tried it.

if you remove the black paint and do not remove the silver can you place a screen behind it and see it through the mirror?
@AngelGildingcomАй бұрын
That is a great question! It will have some transluceny to it, however that will depend on the individual mirror and how it was applied. It is more likely if it is a silver mirror with copper backing that it will have bit more translucency to it than an Aluminum mirror. Thanks for asking!

I purchased mirrors from Amazon. Yes it took off the black. But it went as far as seeing another mirror on the side that i took off the black. What did I do wrong? I didn't even see the silver. Is there a room temp?"
@AngelGildingcom9 ай бұрын
Hi, I'm sorry that is frustrating! It can vary depending on the type of mirror. It's possible that the Multi-Strip was left on too long. I would recommend you try it again but check it after five minutes to see how its progressing.

Does this work on acrylic or plastic without damaging the acrylic?
@AngelGildingcom2 жыл бұрын
We have not tested that ourselves but would expect that it would not damage the acrylic. We would also point out that an acrylic mirror is likely made with an aluminum deposition process as silver does not tend to react well with acrylic. Thanks for asking!

@@jimsvideos7201 In our experience it should have no effect on the silver, provided that you apply as much as you need to remove the copper then rinse it well. Once the backing paint is removed and the mirror cleaned, can you see through it?

@@AngelGildingcom thank you for your response. I should've been more clear with my question. If only the paint layer is removed and the silver layer remains, does the silver layer have any transparency? Im sure it would vary between mirror brands but in general what is your experience. Like a one one way mirror effect. Thank you
@AngelGildingcom3 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisTheNuke thanks for the clarification. It would likely have some transparency, but as you said this will vary by brand of mirror. Note that the mirror will likely have a copper layer over the silver. If you wish to keep it as a translucent mirror you will need to apply a clear coat to the mirror layer to protect it from tarnishing. I hope this helps!

The mirror surface is rather gold in places instead of silver. Is there a way to get it to just be the silver color?
@AngelGildingcom6 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for your question. Once the backing paint is removed you do often seen a peach/gold appearance which is a galvanic copper layer. If you want to remove this while leaving the silver intact, you can use our Copper Remover. We have some more information about this product on our website. Thanks!

Hello Gary, thanks for your question. The copper remover will just remove the copper layer, so as long as it is applied with a soft cloth or cotton swab that will not scratch the surface, you will be left with the silver mirror layer. If you want to remove both the copper and silver layers you can use our Mirror Remover. Hope this helps!
@AngelGildingcom6 жыл бұрын
Hello Gary, if your mirror has a copper backing then it is a silver mirror, this copper process is not usually done on aluminum mirrors. if for some reason it was aluminum the copper removal process would be the same, but we highly doubt that it is aluminum if it is an old mirror that has a copper layer. I hope this helps!
