Always sceptic about these kind of solutions but this works like magic! Thanks a lot. My Live In Berlin by Noah Howard LP had a huge ugly sticker that I’ve removed without a trace!

Pricing directly on the cover is standard practice so anyone even remotely into buying used records should know this trick. Lighter fluid will never stain the cover, just don't rub it off too aggressively around or underneath the removed sticker. Sometimes it takes a few hours to fully evaporate depending on the amount used. I've flooded old price/DJ stickers on rare records and the cover never retains any damage or staining from the fluid itself. A normal modern price sticker just needs a few drops of this and can easily be peeled off gently by hand after the fluid evaporates, with another application for any remaining residue.

Goodwill is a menace. Found a pristine first pressing of wire pink flag with the GW price sticker slapped (thankfully) on the back. Have been afraid to mess with it. I'll try this and practice on a couple first. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the tip! Thank you for the heads up on the Open 24 Hours score. My copy arrived yesterday with my autograph from Holly Amber Church and Padraig Reynolds.

I do this on my 2nd hand records - baby wipes are also handy to get some of the more stubborn glue off in some cases, however some stickers I've just continually soaked with Lighter Fuel and its obliterated the glue altogether, with the label almost lifting itself off.

I’ll try some baby wipes too!! Thanks for checking it out and for the tip. 🙏🏼

For foil and impermeable stickers, scarify the sticker with some emery paper cut to the proper size first, remove the excess lighter fluid from the cotton bud by blotting it on cardboard until it's just damp, then rub it on the label as many times as necessary to peel the label off. To remove the residual glue, clean from the outside to the centre with a lighter fluid damp cotton bud whilst turning it. Another method is to squirt butane down half a cotton bud and rub it on the sticker, you'll need something to soak the frost up.

Hello I just bought a Clear See through Vinyl Record. Was wondering if this will work for the Actual Label on the Record? I know the label is Pressed into the Vinyl and no Sticker Glue. I want to Have a Totally Clear Vinyl with No Labels.

Hi there! If you were talking about a price sticker that is directly on the label itself then yes, I have used this process on that. If you’re talking about a sticker, that’s directly on the grooves then no, I haven’t done that. That would make me pretty nervous!

Is it good to remove the nasty paper tapes that some radio stations put at the edges of the record covers to avoid splitting?those tapes are hard to remove
@TheVinylScore6 ай бұрын
Hey there! Great question, my guess is that it’s better to just leave that and maybe keep an eye out for a replacement cover. That could be too difficult to remove cleanly. Good luck!!
@vinilomelhorpresente46226 ай бұрын
@@TheVinylScore thanks, it's a rare record, will be difficult to find a replacement cover, i will try to soak the tape with the lighterfluid, it's a laminated cover, so should be safer, the method i was using with easier records was scraping it with my scisors but it damages the lamination a little bit

Hi would this work for glue backed stickers on the actual record label? Great video. Thanks
@TheVinylScore2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks so much, I appreciate it 😊. It does work on price stickers on labels. It has the same risk of slight stain in some circumstances. If you try it, use it sparingly so it doesn’t run. Does that make sense?
@chylogurti2 жыл бұрын
@@TheVinylScore Hi thanks for the swift reply. Yes it makes sense. I will apply it carefully maybe with a cotton bud. Best wishes

I also use this to clean my records (the actual vinyl record)... with a microfiber towel. Works like a charm.

Saliva works pretty well too, its better to keep nudging the sticker off with a fingernail than grabbing and pulling though.

Even faster and easier: Heat your oven to 175 degrees, remove the LPs / sleeves, and put up to 12 covers in for 10 minutes. Go do something else, and when you return the stickers will glide right off. Every time. Position the covers so that each sticker is exposed to the heat. Combustion point of paper is 451 F, so you're in no danger of fire. Does not harm the covers.
