I haven't taken mine off in fear of breaking something when others just ripped it off. But with this it easily popped off with very little force and a satisfying pop. Almost as satisfying as opening a roll of Pillsbury dough

Had my ps5 since launch and although I'm in a very clean house the ps5 was full of dust already, this thing must suck in alot of air to have that amount inside already. For comparison my launch ps4 Pro has less dust inside and that was only ever opened once at the same time I did the ps5.

thank you for specifically mentioning the sliding part. i knew from other videos it’s not just popping it off cause i did it before, but no one mentions you have to pull up GENTLY while sliding down. don’t just pull up and pop it open you’ll break the locking mechanisms that keep it in place!

For the people who were not taking the cover off in fear of it breaking. I was on the same boat. I used the corner head from a vacuum to pick up any dust that I could see from the grills. That worked pretty well for me. Still not sure what to do about the middle part though, but yea.

Buy maguires 2.0 scratch remover .same thing has happened and now im waitin for the scratch remover to come.it actually isnt a scratch that u made.its a paint transfer this mean the paint from the white plate went on to you ps5.the maguires scratch remover helps on cars when theres a paint transfer also and paint transfers on cars look exactly the sameand ive seem people use this product to take the paint transfer of their cars so it should work hopefully 🤞

@@keenansteele3582 They're just the generic faceplate brown box panels that we had at the local mom-and-pop video game store. You can find these plates on eBay for 30 to $40.

@@keenansteele3582 They do have a little bit of light bleed from the LEDs. The more expensive one are thicker plastic so they don't have that but I don't mind because I keep mine horizontal and the light bleed with red panels actually looks kinda cool.

I was actually scared trying this out, as to everybody else, for not trying to break the interior of the plate covers, but this method actually slid it off easily without worry. It's been over a year now since I've had my PS5 and luckily there wasn't much dust inside. I needed to install my new M.2 SSD inside for this reason since I don't enough space on my storage now

Holy shit. This is the only thing that helped. I hurt my hands trying to pry this thing off, and nearly snapped the plate in two. I slid some cardboard in underneath the thing, and that popped it right out. I thought for sure some fucker had glued this thing in place!
