Nicely done! I have a 02' R6. Never sold it. Out of my arsenal of bikes it's the one I will never sell. Last year they built the R6 with the carbs. FAST bike and a lot you can do with it. But you're meticulous, thorough for someone who uses terms like “springy”. Are you a mechanic? If not you should be. You’ve got engineering potential. And a very nice vid on cleaning the jets. Yamaha gives you the torque specs on those jets just an FYI. Other than that very well done. This video I’m sure has helped a lot of R6 fanatics!

Nice work Azz. When you remove air jets. Best way is to screw them down first (should be 2 and a half turns) to the stop. Then remove. Refit, screw all the way in, then 2 and a half turns out. Loved the vid mate 😃😃😃

I'm currently cleaning the carburetors and counted at least 1.5 revolutions on the second carburetor. My question would be whether they are set the same on all carburetors and whether 1.5 is even legitimate. Know that someone? 😅

Good video and good to see someone getting stuck into this important job. Put towels into the inlet tracts as soon as you remove the carbs though.

Prior to removing the pilot screws, it's much easier (and more precise) to screw them all the way IN and count the turns (should be about 2, according to the service manual) than to count the turns out ;)

Could you help me figure out the turns for a 2000 Yamaha R1

Spray some water on the downpipes when the bike is hot and you should see the water evaporate pretty quickly, if one or more of the pipes are not evaporating the water as quickly then you may have an issue with that particular cylinder.

Good video it came in handy tonight. One question, Are you supposed to see light through the main jet (the bigger one) also? I understand it has a lot of holes around the jet but like is a guitar string supposed to go straight through it like it did with the pilot jet?
@fredsolomon3rd69694 жыл бұрын
Do you suppose to run a metal line from away thru the bottom on the jets.?

Great video man! You got links to the tool you used to remove the carb?
@HORNET68 жыл бұрын
To set the pilot screws, screw them in until they seat but be gentle as you can easily damage the o ring. Count how many turns and that's your setting for when you re-assemble i.e. You screw them in then back them off, mine were 3 on cylinders 1&4 then 2 3/4 on cylinders 2&3

I'm going to be cleaning out my carb this week. I know you soak the needles but should I clean or soak anything else in the carb? I have rough idle and boggy/sluggish acceleration in first and second gear. Bike wasn't riden in a while and had old gas. Thanks for all the help!!

Pilot air screw should be screwed all the way in then turn out the required turns,, these are not for carb synchronization... You need to set your float heights too 👍 Cheers

Hey man. I love the video. On thing I dont understand is how you remove the carbs themself.
@azzkam89726 жыл бұрын
Alan Koops once you’ve loosened the Allen bolts you have to wiggle them off
@azzkam89726 жыл бұрын
Alan Koops grab the carbs firmly and give them a good wiggle left right back n fourth whilst lifting upwards.
@alankoops16596 жыл бұрын
Azz Kam Thanks a lot man. Another question if you dont mind. Is there any significant stuff I have to remove? Like I saw a throttle cable looks a little scetchy
@azzkam89726 жыл бұрын
Alan Koops if I recall correctly there’s 2/3 cables that need to be disconnected but if you pay close attention to how you remove them then you’ll have no issues putting them back.
@jllindle4 жыл бұрын
You could have primed the carbs by turning the key on and off.
