I like the idea! I soak my rcs in wd40 when I use them in wet terrain! My Arrma Mojave 6s I have ran it in multiple wet situations and had no rust appear on my hardware and parts! 👍👍

Try rubbing alcohol , I tried it once and it completely removes rust from metal

Yes it is safe! Just rinse the parts off and dry them before re installing them.

They need oxygen ALSO to rust. There is oxygen in the water too, but maybe it's faster when dashing with salt water intermittently. Also, rust is porous, it takes time to truly rust all the way through an item. The orange particle is oxidized iron.
