this didn't work as the virus has somehow hidden itself and the I cant see any suspicious files anywhere. Have run multiple anti-virus software and its not getting rid of it

Try deleting your account and then reading your account it should then go to a page where it says sync and chose settings. Then go to manage what you sync and deactivate settings. This worked for me but I had to re add a bunch of stuff. Hope this helps

Thank you so much! It actually worked! To everyone doing this, make sure to go into each Google profile settings (if you have more than one account) and click 'reset default' settings or something similar along those lines after running the malware scan and following the prompts to quarantine the found malware and clearing browsing history and cache. You can add the developer option to your browser in the settings.

I used to have Search Marquis and I knew it was a virus but I didn't really care because it didn't really affect me a lot I just changed the new tab website but eventually I sent my Mac to apple to fix some things and they reset my computer and the virus was gone.

Doing the method for removing search marquis for safari was easy (probably because safari was never infected with marquis) and so was firefox. However, resetting settings for Chrome is not working at all. It's taking way too long to do so and just wipes out my browsing data and turns off my extensions without actually removing search-location.

You can erase the hard drive by restarting your Mac and pressing Command+r as soon as it boots and go to disk utility and erase the hard drive (I use macOS Big Sur)
