How To Remove Seats, Carpet, Center Console - 3rd Gen Toyota 4runner 1996-2002

Today we are replacing the carpet in a 2000 4runner because the current carpet is ruined. We are removing the seats and center console to access the carpet and pull it out. I hope you found this video helpful. Thanks for watching. I hope everyone is doing well out there.

That burned wire was for powering an amp. They were suppose to put a fuse as close to the battery as possible. They did not and you see they could have started a fire when that wire shorted on the body.

I bought mine at 145K from a one owner woman who's never even put it in four-wheel-drive. I just hit 200,000 miles. I've got to Canada all over California Utah, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, California. I rebuilt the entire engine by myself never done it ever.

Hey there, thank you for the kind words. I pulled the old carpet out of my other 4runner and scrubbed it a bristle brush drill attachment and laundry detergent. Cleaned up real nice and made it smell good. Eventually I put new carpet in with thicker backing for more sound deadening.

Did you buy the pre-molded carpet? The one on the website only has the carpet for the rear heat vent models

You have to trim it. I used chalk to make my lines and some heavy duty scissors to cut it.

Recently bought a sr5 and wanted the back seats from my limited to be switched over (don’t want my little siblings dropping stuff on the cloth, rather have the leather) is there anyway to make it not look horrible? I seen how the carpet and back rests are connected to the carpet.

As long as both are the same color it won't look that bad. You could always get leather seat covers for the fronts too.

Can the rear carpet portion be removed from the seat back so that the seats don't have to come out to take out the back carpet?

Yes, you can remove them. The back is held in by clips. You need a clip pry tool and some firm tugs to get them to release.
